I bought some peanut butter that says its natural. It has palm oil though and I don't really know anything about that type of oil.The peanut butter is sold under the brand of MaraNatha.

Other than peanut butter not actually being a nut butter (it's a legume-- like kidney beans & chickpeas), you don't have much to really worry about. Palm oil, in moderation, is a healthy fat.

There really shouldn't be anything other than peanuts and oil in peanut butter. Just my opinion though. I eat the old fashioned kind...just peanuts and oil....so good.

Now I want peanut butter. YUM!!

The only reason palm oil is bad is because it devastates the Indonesian rainforests. They cut down huge patches of the rainforest (orangutan habitat) to make space for the oil palm plantations. There are companies that work with the Indonesians to ensure the sustainability of their crops, and who also get their palm oil from other countries where it doesn't do as much damage to the natural ecosystem. But, you have to contact the company to find out where they get their palm oil. At this point, your best bet is to avoid palm oil all together.

There really shouldn't be anything but peanuts in your peanut butter. Get a natural brand, like Adams, or find a grocery store that has a grinder where you grind your own fresh peanut butter.

As for as stores where you can grind the peanuts, there is no place like that around here. Since I bought it we'll have to eat it. At least it taste good!! I'm sure it's still better than some of the brands.
