BMI and pounds per week

Options
So I know everyone is different but I know that I saw a post somewhere and of course I can't find it now, that told what your BMI should be to lose 2 pounds per week, 1.5 pounds, 1 pound etc. I wasn't sure if anyone knows what I am talking about or if you can help me out. I was pretty sure that if your BMI was over 32 than 2 was safe but i wasn't sure about after that. Thanks ahead of time

There is one like that on WebMD. Tells you what your target should be. And information on weight, body shape, etc. It is called the BMI Calculator Plus.

Do you mean BMR ... BMI is body mass index. BMR is basal metabolic rate.

I think it's basically that if you have more to lose, maybe a BMI of over 32, then it was safe to have more of a calorie deficit. If your BMI is larger, you can safely have a 2000 cal deficit and thus be on a plan for a 2lb loss per week. If you have less to lose, that big of a deficit is not healthy. I think I read that somewhere, I'm not sure if it was on here though.

As far as lean body mass retention goes - here are the guidelines most use.

Over 20% bodyfat = safe to lose 2.0 lbs / week

    15-20% bodyfat = 1.5 lbs / week
    10-15 % = 1.0 lb / week
Below 10%.... it's gonna be tough and slow. Most people just recomp.
