Hi All,
I'm have pork chops tonight for dinner. It has a bone in it, leading me seek clarification on some things I'm a bit confused about.

The serving size that we add to our food diary, is that...
1) the weight once the meat is prepared or is it before it's cooked (ie the weight the supermarket marks on the packaging)?
2) including the weight of bone or excluding the bone. I'm assuming it's w/o the bone, but just want to be sure.

Thanks in advance! :flowerforyou:

I wish I knew the answer...It might help to do a little test. Buy the same quantity of boneless meat/meat with the bone and cooked/uncooked meat at the supermarket and compare those weights with the one on the food diary to see which is closest.

I don't know; that's the best I can come up with.
    Good Luck!

    Thanks Ballay,
That might be a future experiment.

In the meantime, I've decided to use the cooked weight without the bone... I figure that's what I'm putting in my body.

I weigh my meat before putting it on the plate so no matter how it is prepared...I use the weight of the off the bone meat.
