I CAN'T FACE THE SCALE!!!

I have a confession. I feel like a failure. I have been a member of this site for fifteen days now and i have only lost 2 pounds. I know why. I have not exercised consistently. I have deviated from the plan and gone over my calorie goals sometimes. I can also admit that I wasn't taking the "low calorie" eating plan seriously when I first began. Here is my question...is this normal? Is there like a learning curve to get over before you FINALLY plug in and begin to drop the weight?? My husband and I are planning a trip to Hawaii this summer and I am worried that I will not be in beach shape. I will say that I am 100% committed now. I am ready to face down my demons and learn to eat better. I just feel...like I am lagging behind...am I ya'll??? Tell me the truth did it take any of you a while to adjust?...just wondering...

It always takes awhile to adjust to a lifestyle change - and that's what you have to look at this as. If you think of it as a diet that you can just stop doing at some point, you may be setting yourself up for failure in the long run. Losing 1-2 lbs a week is the way to go, so you're doing fine! No worries, no beating yourself up, just stick with it and you WILL see results!! Good luck!!
  • I think you're doing great! I was on here 2 or 3 weeks before I lost any b/c I kept messing up. Be patient, learn from your mistakes. Consistency doesn't happen without some speed bumps...

    1) 2 lbs in 15 days is something to be proud of- if you are looking to lose more, you are likely setting your goals too high.

    2) Don't pay any attention to the scale for a while, its not worth your time right now.

    3) Going over your calories does not make you a failure

    4) Try making smaller changes for a healthier lifestyle. If you eat more veggies and fruit, whole grains, protein and fiber, getting and staying within your calories becomes much, much easier.

Relax. Don't push so hard. It will come.
  • 2 pounds in two weeks sounds just fine to me. That's a healthy way to lose weight and keep it off. I'm not looking forward to the scale tomorrow either, but that's because I ate two entire bags of sweet potato chips this week.

Just think how that would add up by the summer, even if it doesn't speed up! 20 lb perhaps? That would definitely be noticeable.

Then think what might happen if you started sticking to your calories more often... Coz if you're losing whilst going over, who knows what you'll achieve when you're back on track.

    You CAN do it.

We've all screwed up before but you have to grab the bull by the horns and get it together if you really want to do this. Sometimes we say things and have all the right intentions, but the commitment isn't 100%. In order to be 100% committed means being proactive and very determined to succeed. You can reach your goal being less committed but you will experience a lot of set backs like the one you are experiencing now. You are the only one that can decide how this journey will be. Get Focus.

Oh sweetheart, I can feel your pain.
Stop being so restrictive ... set the MFP to lose 1lb per week and stick to your calorie goals.
Set small goals... like logging all of your calories, or exercising 3 days per week, etc

You can do this... it takes time though ... the surest way to derail yourself is to put too much pressure on yourself to be perfect ... your NOT perfect and no thin person is totally perfect! :)

    BIG HUGS!

You cannot see any weight loss as a failure. Do not be hard on yourself like that. Any weight loss is a success. Keep going forward.
  • I would look at this a tad bit differently. You've been a little less than committed, and lost 2 lbs. Imagine what a commited exercise and diet plan would do for you?

it took me most of November (was ok a couple days) then December was a mess, a complete mess --- on January 1st I just decided to take it to heart and to the point of being obsessive if I had to. And here I am, 50 days later - I've lost 19 pounds, down two sizes in my pants, my underwear are too big (sweet) and I ran a full 5k this morning without stopping :)

    and Swilson87 is dead on!

Tomorrow is a new day --- let's do it!
