HRMs getting mixed up?

I went to the gym for the first time today with my partner and we noticed that when I was jogging on the treadmill and she was standing there, her heart rate monitor was reading my heart rate! It said her heart rate was at 166 and she was standing there. Has anybody else had this happen??? This is going to be a problem when we workout together because we won't get accurate readings. I got a coded transmitter to avoid this problem too!
I have a Polar FT40 with a coded transmitter chest strap.

Yeah, I've noticed that also. Don't think there's much you can do - other than moving further away from someone working next to you.0

That doesn't help when we workout together0
