Why? Why? Why? Do we smoke and it leads to cancer, drink and it kills our liver and kidneys, overeat and become obese or mobidly obese. There are so many other bad choices that we choose daily. Its like we are not afraid to die. Some people even have convinced their minds to the point that they say,"got to die from something". Why can't that something be old age and healthy as a horse. Lets make decisions that lead to LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably because nobody's perfect. I don't think people want to die, they just are afraid to face their fears and make that change. We all make mistakes.

  • Everybody DOES have to die from something. But it doesn't have to be heart disease.

Great post. Good attitude. My fiance has that stubborn, gotta die from something attitude and he doesn't understand that you need to live a healthy pain free life. Some ppl just don't know about the good life!

AMEN! I am behind ya 150%
  • Every time I light up a cigarette (which is down to about twice a month now) I think about the days and weeks and months I'm losing. I mostly only smoke when I'm down and the self-loathing is up. You're right though. We all need to find a way to decide we're worth it! We are worth the effort, will power, and dedication it takes to live a happy and healthy life! (most days I feel like this) Thanks for the reminder ;)

I bumped this post to see others responses, but I'll chime in I guess. The problem is, you CAN smoke, drink, not work out, eat badly and live to be 100. You can also do everything right and die young, there is no guarantee. Of course statistics and common sense say if you do more good and less bad you'll live longer, but then there is also the enjoyment factor. I could only eat healthy, never smoke a cigarette, never drive too fast, never expose myself to anything risky, and live to be really old, or I could have some fun, and hopefully still live to be pretty old.

I get what you're saying, but we ALL participate in something that is detrimental to our health. And to make matters worse, we can see it better with other people. My husband is always getting mad at me if I fall off the wagon and have a cigarette, but yet he doesn't even try to quit chewing tobacco. Um, I think I am at least doing good by trying, even if I fail sometimes, but of course he worries about my health more than his own, and I'd say that's pretty common.
