Husband was working this past weekend, school this morning, we have Vday dinner tonight.... which means this is the 5th day in a row I wont be attending the gym because I don't have anyone to watch my 3month old twins...
they don't nap for more than 40mins at a time which makes working out at home during the day impossible.
The weather sucks balls in new jersey which means I can't even take them on a walk!!!
Am I seriously going to have to start getting up at 5am just to do a little bit of a workout while they are still asleep (they sleep till 7am)

I am feeling very discouraged!

Im sorry that sounds really tough.I have a 3 year old but I couldnt even imagine having twins.0

I have a feeling that the feelings you are having will dissipate once you do start to get up early and workout! You need it! Go for it!0

Sounds like a hassle. And I know the weather doesn't help at ALL for working out. My suggestion would be to find like a 15-20 minute workout DVD like "turbo jam, kick punch jam" or I think turbo fire has a 15 minute DVD that you can get on ebay for like 10 bucks. That way, you'll still be getting a little work out in, and it's short enough so that your little cuties will sleep through it (hopefully) Good luck!0

I know it sucks. When you're out of your routine, it doesn't feel good.
But you know, if they nap for 40 minutes at a time, that's something. You could do some stretches and pushups and crunches in that time. Do some squats while holding them for some extra weight resistance. I mentioned on another thread earlier today that there are several DVDs available showing you exercises you can do *with* the baby, using him/her as weight. You could trade off with them, doing one exercise with one and then picking up the other baby for the next exercise.
Don't let yourself get down and unmotivated. Just make it work!0 -
You have my empathy. I never had twins, but I had 2 out of 3 very high-need babies. It was hard to get anyone to watch them, and I never had time to myself. They are grown now, but I still remember when they were small (it exhausts me just to think about it.) Have you trid any "Mommy and me" workouts? I bet there are tapes available, and if you have a YMCA, they often offer classes. Even if you did a baby swim class, you could get some work in as well. Most Y's also have a nursery service, so you could work out while the babies are cared for nearby.
Just a couple of ideas.0 -
I am sorry. Just vent away.0

honestly, its not loosing the weight that im worried about..... I am doing well with that on diet alone... Its the fact that I want my pre pregnancy muscles back... and the only way I got those were lifting weights 5 days a week =(0

Sorry you're having a rough day.
Is there anyone near you, from church or your husband's (their spouse) work that stays at home?
Maybe you could find someone that could "swap" babysitting with you. For instance, they watch your twins for an hour, then you watch their kids....
Just a thought.0 -
Well.....things will get better. You may have to get up earlier and do your workout. I know it will make the day seem alot longer but you will feel better. Just take a little nap with them. If we lived closer I would love to watch them for you. I do have lots of training in that field:) Well....yours are girls and mine are boys. I know it can be hard but things will get better soon!!! Keep up the good work!! Enjoy your night tonight!!!0

most gym nurseries wont care for infants... Usually 1 year of age and older. mine are only 3 months =(0

you might try investing in a Gazelle cross trainer. You can pick one up for around $99 off the Internet. You can then workout when the twins are asleep and you don't have to have a gym membership. Plus weather does not play into the equations either.0

I have a 3 month old too and I find that one of these: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3762950.htm keeps him occupied for hours.
Before we got it I was constantly having to hold, carry and swing him and I was exhausted and couldnt get a bloody thing done. It was a godsend buying that. He'll happy sit and swing in it, it has music and twinkly lights and you can use an iPod with it too.0 -
I lost more weight doing work-out videos at home than I ever did at a gym...maybe that would be a good solution. I don't go to the gyms nearby my home because the child care there is just awful and its so expensive to pay for a person outside of the gym to do it.
Turbo Fire is EXCELLENT..btw!0 -
Not sure if you have ever tried Leslie Sansone walking program, it has varying levels of fitness and you can get it done in your living room! I recommend the 5 mile b/c it is 12 minute miles including 2 min jog at the end of each mile-you can add intensity with some ankle and hand weights and within 36 min plus stretching you can knock out 3 miles! Hope this helps....you can check it out on You Tube too before making a purchase. Dr Oz recommends her on his site too!0

How about putting them in a swing while you exercise at home so that they can watch you? It's around this age that they become a bit more curious of their surroundings! My sister's baby is 6 months and at 3 months he was really starting to notice things and watch people! Good luck!0

This is only temporary honey. They will grow so fast. Enjoy them while they are little. Do what you can when you can. You'll have plenty time to get tone again once they're a little older. It's not the end of the world. Give yourself more credit. To me, the diet is way harder than the working out part. Pat yourself on the back for maintaining a good diet. If you're a church goer, see if some ladies are available a few times per week to let you get to your desired workouts. Reach out to your family and friends. You don't have to do everything yourself. It's okay to ask for help.0

This will pass, be patience and graceful! I have twins as well, and I know what you are going thru... and it is not easy! At least you are able to stay home with them.
Have you thought about Shred? It is only 20 min. and it is worth a whole hour of workout!0 -

I don't get it? How does that make it impossible?
The crucial component in a weights routine is intensity. Volume and frequency are secondary issues. You could get an excellent physique with that amount of time with say a bench, some free weights and a chin up bar at most. 40 mins a day is plenty....0 -
You can get a great workout in within 40 mins..TRUST ME!!!
I'm a mother of two - 2yr & 1yr.
**I know it's not having twins but I know how it feels like having two young kids (and I have my own in home business)
I've been doing Insanity and now I'm doing TurboFire.
Before I would wait until their naptime but I'm starting to like working out mid morning. I put my 1yr in her crib so she can have her Me Time while my 3yr watches TV in my room or plays in her room.
When I know I'm going to have a really busy day I wake up early 5AM to knock it out for the day.
I get a better workout at home vs going to the gym!!
If you want to workout bad enough, you'll find a way!!!0 -
Ughhh.. I am sorry !!! I do feel your pain I dont have twins but I have a 2 year old & an 8 month old. Sometimes it feels like twins!! My son has been sick this past week and wont sleep, my daughter is stuck to my hip plus I work 45 hours a week. Morning workouts are awful for me so I really can only do it at night, Its sooo hard but I know i have to do it.. even if I'm up to 11pm. I wish I could do mornings but hoenstly I cant get up and go right into working out.. my body just isnt ready for that so early !! LOL
If you need to talk, message me BUT in the mean time, I would try doing the morning work outs then sneaking in a nap later in the day. Atleast you'll have it out of the way and dont have to worry about trying to fit it in !!
Good luck ,,, (((HUGS)))0
