So, you think you know about sugar?

Thought I'd share this- heard it on the drive back from a nice long walk around the zoo yesterday:

http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/2011/02/12/802-sugar-hazards/

Robert Lustig really knows his stuff and has some very interesting things to say about sugar, fiber, fruit juice, and more. His no-nonsense, well informed opinion is refreshing to hear through all of the 'noise' we all get looking for nutritional advice.

Anyway, hope you all enjoy it . I know I'll think twice before I reach for some 'fruit juice.'

Sugar, like everything else needs to be treated in moderation. I find this kind of stuff alarmist and fad driven. It's eggs with too much cholesterol, its non lean meats, its too much fat, too much salt, too much whatever. Treat all food groups with moderation, and be aware of what you're choosing. But sugar, in and of itself, is not the devil.

    Just my $.02

true true, I just prefer to get my sugar from the natural stuff like fruit (not juices, unless made directly from the fruit). I cut out all added suagr to my diet a few years ago and it made a world of difference for me, now even milk tastes sweet to me.

I completely agree with you that moderation is key, as does the doctor himself. If you haven't listened to the podcast I'd give it a shot. Trust me, there's nothing alarmist here, just sound advice and scientific facts.

Ironically, that's the reason this podcast/show was so enlightening and engaging to me. It's not alarmist or a fad-fix, it's science and very, very open and honest.
