Applesauce Cornbread?

I have some Jiffy cornbread mix and some applesauce. I'd like to make some cornbread muffins - can I add the applesauce and be done with it, or do I need to add an egg, too?

I think you need the egg as a binder. You might try just using the white to keep the fat and calories down. But I'm no food scientist :laugh:0

I thought you used applesauce (in baking) to replace oil. (??)
Here's a recipe for low-fat cornbread and it's not terribly complicated. I'm planning on making turkey chili in the crockpot tomorrow night and this sounded great to go with it!
