 NO - i would get too hangry. No disrespect intended, just trying to 'bump' for later. I"m curious how that works for others...0

I personally haven't and not sure i have the willpower to either. But am interested to here what people have to say about it ;0)0

I couldn't do it either. I like food and my stomach doesn't like me if I don't feed it.0

Yes. I found the first few I did to be difficult, but they've gotten easier. The interesting thing is how they've taught me the difference between what I *thought* was hunger, and what it really feels like to be hungry. This in turn has made my non-fasting days so easy to control my portions, mindless snacking, etc.0

I haven't done a 24 fast (at least not on purpose). But I have done a 7 day veggie detox. No coffee, sugar, flour or meat -- only fruits, veggies, legumes and nuts -- for 7 days. Herbal tea is also allowed, and I had a cup of hot water with lemon juice every morning. Kind of rough, but it was definitely a help with quitting those junk and processed foods cold turkey.0

And by the way....you don't need to start out with a 24 hour fast. Start with something smaller and remember, the overnight hours count as part of the fasting.0

Hmmm.... No food for 24 hours? I don't think I could do it, especially voluntarily  . I do know of many people that do fasting programs and they swear by them. I'm interested to see everyone's opinion.0

I fast regularly for spiritual reasons but not really as a diet program. It is good for the body to have some "down time" and it is good for the mind and spirit too.
I would like to fast one day per week or a couple of days per month on a regular basis. I feel good when I do it and it gets easier the more you do it.
Just do it for the right purpose, to heal your body and give it rest, NOT to cut calories and try to lose weight faster.0 -
I do it once per week from about 2pm one day to 2pm the next day. I don't really do it for weight loss, but for the other health benefits of fasting. It definitely has made me realize what hunger really is and helps me on other days. I don't really find it hard at all. It's sort of nice not having to think about what I'm going to eat during that time. I do drink a lot of water and also drink some coffee and tea during my fasts.0

My opinion is that 24 hour fasts are very beneficial mentally - it teaches discipline. I've fasted before for religious reasons and was always surprised at how much easier it is for me to fast than it is to eat a balanced diet. Go figure.....0

I have done a lot of fasting over the years: straight fasts, juice fasts, you name it!
I tried the "Eat Stop Eat" program of fasting every couple of days for 24 hours. After a couple of weeks, I'd gained 3 lbs. I think it's great for discipline and for "cleaning out" your system though!0 -
I do it when I'm hungover, does that count?
I read an article about this actually, apparently it helps you maintain weightloss, I will see if I can find it in my laptop history.0 -
I think I might try it one day, but I'm losing pretty consistantly now and don't want to do anything to throw that off!
From what I understand, it's not like "OMG -- NO FOOD SO YOU"LL STARVE!". You get your full calorie allotment for one day but you finish eating by say 6pm (so if you're on a 1200 calorie regiment, then eat your 1200 calories from the time you wake up until 6pm that evening). You go to bed when you want and wake up and go about your day, just you don't eat until 6pm (or if you only chose to do a 20 hour fast, then at 2pm, etc.) Most people try to eat less than their calorie allotment for the day since they're eating so late, so a lot of people move a few hundred calories to the day before to help them get through it.
I think that it would be a great way to learn the difference between HUNGRY and "oh, it's noon I have to eat now"0 -
Yes, and I love Eat Stop Eat. It taught me what hungry really feels like, and it is something I can do easily for the rest of my life.0
