Painkillers during hard training/racing

For those that take ibuprofen during a race (marathon, half mary, whatever) thinking it helps you with pain, think again. I already knew taking them during a race is a bad thing and have told people this in the past, but this research shows just how bad it can be.

Personally, I have never taken any before or during a race. If it was a longer race (say 2+ hours), I'll usually take some a couple hours after the race to help control inflammation.

My husband is a soccer ref and for a tournament once he took some ibuprofen (I forget why he wanted it) but he will never do that again -- he was peeing blood for a day or so. Not good.0
