Those who lost/ need to lose a lot of weight

I was watching this documentary called like fat or something along those lines on netflicks and it said that we are born with a certain number of fat cells and that even when heavy people lose weight, they still have all those fat cells, just they have shrank, so the feeling of being hungry will always be there because when the fat cells start to shrink they send a signal to the brain that you are hungry and need to eat more. Yesterday i worked out for the first time in forrever, and i ate pretty healthy, and i was STARVING.....what my question is, is how long will this hunger last? and will i just have to live with the fact that im hungry for the rest of my life and learn to suppress it mentally? or does it eventually just dissapear? I drank so much water yesterday so it wasn't neccissarily my lack of water...maybe it was more mental?

Oh I forgot to add that everyone on my dad's mom side are very overweight and no one has diabetes or high blood pressure....its strange to be big and not have those conditions, but i guess thats just how the dice was rolled0

I don't honestly know, but I eat alot of protein to off set the hungry feeling. I am usually over in my protein everyday, but it helps me feel full. Also, make sure to get plenty of fruits/veggies. The feeling does subside or it did for me after my body got used to what I was doing. Right now, it is in an adjustment period. Just don't give up!!!0

whats even stranger is that i ate way more yesterday than i normally eat, just it was healthy lol....so maybe the getting used to the calories deficiancy is what is making me soooooo freakkkking hungry0

Eventually the hunger pangs will go away. IN the meantime, maximize the amount of food you can eat within your calories. Fill up on fresh or frozen veggies and extremely lean meats so that you don't feel as hungry. Avoid processed food and high amounts of sodium. Drink plenty of water. These will all help.0

From my experience, your body will adjust after time to your new diet habits and the hunger will go away. As for diabetes and being overweight, not all fat people have diabetes because that often occurs when people's diets are high in carbs/sugar and do not get enough exercise to balance out their blood sugar levels, and heredity has a big role in that as well0

That's interesting and I don't have an answer to teh question, but I do have some suggestions. I have been heavy all my life and I now recognize that at times I ate just out of boredom, so in that sense, I can say that some might be mental. Another thing that I have learned (and I do see a difference in regarding hunger) is that eating slow really really does help. I've always heard that it takes your body 20 minutes after you eat to register that you're hungry, but I don't think I really believed it until I actually saw it for myself. When I say eat slowly, I'm not just saying slow down, I'm saying, be very deliberate, enjoy your food and eat it very slowly. How many times have you had a big dinner and just kept eating until you "felt" satisfied, only to find about 20 minutes later, you felt overstuffed and uncomfortable. For me, the number of times is too high to count. So, for me, eating my food very slowly and very deliberately has helped tremendously. As you mentioned, drinking lots of water does help keep you feeling full, but also eat foods that are filling, high in protein to stay satisfied longer. Hope that helps.

I always get shocked looks when I'm at the doctors office and my blood pressure is amazing. Even when it got high with my pregnancy it was only 140/80. For a lot of people, that's normal!0 -
The hunger has gotten way better! When I first started, the 1200 calories/day was soooo hard to stick to. I literally was almost in tears and hopeless because I couldn't imagine being hungry all the time.
It's totally different now. Lately, I'm often finding I have to make myself eat a little something extra in the evening just to get to my 1200.0 -
i have days like this and I will make a big cup of green tea and put a teaspoon of creamer and some spenda in it, the hot tea fills my stomach up and tricks it, if its boredom or mental it usually goes away but if I am still hungry i will have an apple with a laughing cow cheese or a plate of broccoli. works everytime.0

i took about 4-6 weeks before i got over being hungry all the time, i did find that i wasnt hungry after working out so on weekends when i have unlimitted access to food i do a lite workout in the morning and a heavier workout before dinner late afternoon. helps me to eat less through out the day.. but it is a constant struggle..0

I think I saw the same one, did it have a female comedian who lost a bunch of weight?0

It took about 2 weeks for me not to feel hungry all the time. The problem is I'm obsessed with food now. I'm always thinking about what I'm going to eat. It can be breakfast and I'm asking my babe, "What do you want to eat for dinner." Its quite annoying to myself and I'm sure him, but the hunger does subside after a while.0

Plan some health snacks during the day and evening. I have a serving of cereal (dry -- i hate milk in cereal) mid morning, and a piece of fruit mid afternoon. No hunger pangs. Another thought would be to have multiple (5 or more) mini meals throughout the day.0

Are you getting enough protien. Protien's come in a lot of forms..not just meat. maybe add nuts to your snacks. I like to dip a small apple in about 2 tbls of peanut butter for extra protien. I've just switched to a vegitarian diet but allowing fish, and I'm having to work on that protien thing myself. It does help you feel full longer though. And after a week or two, you won't feel so hungry anymore. Good luck!0

Yessss! I cried when she said its just not fair that i have to work out 3 hours a day and restrict myself so much just to be chubby....thats exactly how i feel, all the people on my dads mom side are heavy....and i mean big....im 259 and im like on the smaller side compared to them....and even when i was at my smallest(size 10 160 pounds) i worked out so much just to stay at that "chubby" stage.....I didn't finish watching it, but it was really interesting when they were talking about how they thing the intestines have their own nervous system, it makes sense....0 -
For me i just can't eat right to lose weight, i have to work out as well. Because if i am not working out and just eating right then 1 bad day of eating can tend to compound into multiple days of bad eating.
When I was eating like a slop i was probably eating 1200 calories PER meal breakfast/lunch/and dinner so it was an adjustment at first to feel full at the beginning, but once the pounds started flying off then its weird how the mental adjustment takes over and now I am on the other end of the spectrum coming home after the gym to 1200 calories to fill at the end of the night and i struggle to fill that.
Now i feel like i am eating like a pig at night to fill the calories and i am still dropping weight.0 -
I have found that one of my PMSing signs is that I'm starving. A few days before my TOM I will wonder what is wrong with me, no matter what I eat, it doesn't seem to fully satisfy me. It lasts for a day or two. I started realizing the correlation after awhile. I have just tried to deal with it by trying to eat low calorie snacks and tell myself that I won't be so hungry in a day or two.0

Yeah my blood was 117/74.....the only time i had high blood pressure was when i was holding a half cup full of coffee in the dr office....it was like 134/89 and an hour later it was back down to the 120/79.....I think there are a lot of stipulations that people put on fat people....like the diabetes and high blood pressure and the theory that we are just lazy....0
