And I'm down 3lbs overnight???? Now I KNOW it's not fat so is it from not drinking at all yesterday or last night? Dumb question but does alcohol cause you to "hold onto" excess water the way sodium does? Please explain! Thank you!

Alcohol is a diuretic and does the opposite of making you retain water. Watch out for detox issues if you were on the heavy side of drinking. Alcohol is dangerous to quit cold turkey.0

Not heavy drinking just a few glasses of wine at night to unwind.0

I've read that alcohol (in any amount) can prevent your body from burning up to 75% of it's normal calorie burn, for up to 20 hours... maybe your are just burning all those extra calories now!!!0

This might help since you drink wine specifically.

So wine actually helps your metabolism? If so, this is the best news I've ever heard (I LOVE my wine...). It seems, according to this article, that as long as you account for the calories in the wine and don't go over, it will actually help your weight loss (or at least not hurt it any more than consuming the same number of calories in a peanut butter sandwich or something would)?0
