So I see people mention this stuff fairly regularly. Do you mean like the BEEFCAKE weight gainer they sell at GNC? Or do they have simple bags of protein powder you can purchase? I've never seen it before.. so some help tracking it down would be rad :glasses:

I actually drink protein shakes for weight loss. I mix it with skim milk or water as a meal replacement. I was doing slim fast but I talked to some fitness people and they told me that the more protein the better. If I am not mistaken I think you are allowed 1 gram of protein per body pound per day. Protein pretty much helps your muscles which when you lose weight you still want strong muscles lol (sorry didn't know how else to say it). Right now I do 1 scoop of whey protein which is 120 calories and 24 grams of protein.

Ohh btw the stuff I use is 100% Whey Protein - Gold Standard which is the best tasting for the money. I usually buy it at Vitamin Discount Center which is sooo much cheaper then GNC.

Costco has wellements, and I like the flavor and the price. They also have some yummy recipes on their website. The butterscotch is my favorite!

There are different types of proteins for differents things.

Yes, there is weign gaining proteins, you don't want that because right now you want to lose weight and concentrate on high protein foods to get your system on track. What you want are proteins that will jump start your system. So look for protein shakes that are geared at heling you lose weight. I personally like the ones you find at Walmoart. They are half the price of the ones at GNC and contain the same ingredients.

The bst out there would be Whey Protein for its high content of protein and fiber, this is what I recommend cause I use it!!!

Good luck and keep me updated on your progress!!!

As I've said before, I like Jay Robb's protein powder. My Krogers carries it so that's convenient for me. It's about $20 for a container. I think it has 11 scoops in it... so that's 11 shakes. I like it because it isn't gritty, doesn't have a really weird "whey" aftertaste and it doesn't have alot of other "junk" ingredients. It's sweetened w/ stevia.

I've made several different concoctions w/ it. My favorites are a Chocolate N' Peanut Butter shake, a "Cafe Mocha" and my Pumpkin Pie shake.

I actually look forward to my shakes. I don't dread them.

ETA..look for a brand that uses Whey Protein ISOLATE as opposed to CONCENTRATE... it tastes better and digests easier.

I use his egg white protein powder, and I do think it's the best tasting and least "chemically".

I started buying different protein powders at your local discount stores (i.e. Walmart, Target) and found that the more expensive ones actually mix better and taste better. Try it out and see how it works for you. I use it at least once per day. When I weight lift I take a second heavy dose. I see it helping while keeping my fat and calorie count lower.

Go to your local GNC and they can give you a run down of all options.

I use Brown Rice Protein Powder. It has some carbs, no fat, and lots of protein (14g per serving). I mix it with water and strawberries, and blend with some ice cubes (I also sometimes add fish oil, or flax seed oil).

It is delicious, but if you can tolerate milk there are so many delicious whey powders out there (some natural ones sweetened with stevia are tasty). My brother was a body builder (and now is a "fit guy") and he claims that the best bioavailability comes from whey, hands down.

Try some out! It is a delicious and quick way to replace a meal or add some snacks to the day!
