a cup is a measurement unit, it is equal to 240ml or 8 fluid ounces.

I googled it and it said a cup is equal to about an English half pint.

:smooched: Not sure if this URL will work, but this is a unit conversion tool I use:

  • It's about 50grams, give or take. I hate the whole cup to gram thing...can't get my head around it at all! x

aaaahahahahaha I first read this and was like "what? How does she not know what a cup is!!" and then I quickly remembered that there is a world outside of this country and that WE are the weirdos using the goofy measurements! Oh I got a good chuckle at myself

I don't know. I lived overseas for yrs and I found it very frustrating to cook with recipes that said "80 g of this" or 100 g of that". I had to buy a scale and weigh everything out. Yes, in liquid volumes the calculations were easier, but having to weigh everything as opposed to just getting out a cup measurment is a royal PITA. My mom, who was born overseas and moved back yrs ago, still prefers cooking with American recipes, b/c it's not as tedious.

However, as far as weight loss is concerned, it is MUCH better to weigh your food out, since a cup can really vary in weight (and cal.), depending on how much you cram into a cup.
