Hi, I'm Debbie, I am new to counting calories and it is hard to get them all in. I also find that I'm having a hard time keeping my protein intake where it needs to be without losing the amount of calories I need each day. My protein is coming from lean chicken mostly and then from the whole grains and fat free dairy I eat each day. Is there an example as to how to pull this off? Will my weight loss be unsucessful if my carbs., fats, and proteins are not where they need to be exactly or close?

MFP's protein default is low 15% of total calories. A balanced diet can consist of protein up to 30%. So you can double the protein MFP allows for you and still be fine.

    Agee with upping protein.

    Additional tips:
Natural - chicken, tuna, egg whites, beans, etc
    Supplement: Whey Protein & casein
Stay away from protein bars as they are typically full of junk. You cab easily make your own (see my blog)

Casein is a slow digesting protein - it's a great pre bed snack to make sure you have good muscle building nutrition available for your longest period without food. Natural source is cottage geese as the milk / whey has been removed - go with a non dat/low dag version

Protein requires more energy to burn so it's good to add to your diet. Also try to eat a balanced meal of carbs + protein . Protein will slow down the absorption rate of carbs and low the Glycemic effect

    Good luck !
