Protein bars - yay or nay?

I'm just wondering. I don't really like the effort of making a smoothie or anything post-working out (I'm doing P90X), and while protein bars can be pricey (like 2 bucks a bar), they seem like a quicker and beneficial option. I want to know, I guess, what peoples' thoughts on them are. Are they worth it?

    Pros:
    small
easy to carry with you to work or to run
hassle-free - no mess in the kitchen, no need to spend time mixing

    Cons.
    they have added sugar
    high in fat
    absorb slower than shakes

    SHAKES

    Pros.
if you make them with water they're an excellent source of protein without unnecessary added fats and sugars
    absorb fast
cheaper, because you can use a tub for a longer period of time

    Cons.
    take time to make
can't just put them in your pocket
some argue that they don't taste great (this can be fixed with added fruit)

shakes are better it absorbs into the system more fully and faster go to walmart if you dont want to spend to much they have body fortress whey which is 15 bucks a tub and just take 1 scoop its probably less calories than a bar too and 27 grams of protein the recommended 2 scoop is kinda b.s more of a small body builder serving because most of your protein should come from food calories anyways but hope that helps

one of those will last about a month or more

We normally only eat protein bars when outside doing all day activity (skiing, hiking). If I am at home working out I try to find other alternatives such as milk, nuts, edamame, hard boiled egg or cottage cheese/fruit.
