Never being on this journey before, I don't know if I am making the progress I should.
Here are my stats so far:
10.7lbs lost in 5 weeks.
Spin class 4-5x/week.
Weight train 2-3x/week.
1200 daily calorie intake

Maybe I should get a personal trainer? Am I progressing nicely or too slow? thoughts anyone?

At about 2 pounds a week, you look like you are spot on! Up to you re: hiring a trainer - I work with one once or twice a week and LOVE it!

you have not mentioned measurements? Have you taken measurements? This is equally important if not more important than the number of the scale.

I've been using a trainer once a week for the past month and a half, and it's been useful for me. I was stuck at a plateau after losing 65 pounds already, and I was running out of ideas on how to get unstuck. So it was beneficial for me to have someone to help me break it and offer help. I get a butt kicking workout once a week and tips on what to eat and what to do for workouts.

However, I don't really see a need for you to hire one right now. It looks like you're doing great on your own! It's a financial commitment and I don't really recommend a trainer unless you really need it. i wanted to lose the last 10 lbs and they weren't coming off. If you get to a point where you can't lose any more weight on your own, a trainer is helpful to get the rest off.

In my opinion, you are going fast enough. In fact, your caloric intake seems a bit too low for all the exercise you get though you did not list duration of your workouts. If you get too few calories, then your body will go into shutdown mode and conserve fat because it thinks that there is some kind of a famine going on and you need to survive. Granted, if your create a caloric deficit, you will lose weight as your results clearly show, but you may be making it tougher than it should be by slowing your metabolism.

Anyway, it's tough to be sure because everyone's body is different and there as so many variables at play. Do remember though, this should be about a lifestyle change, not a diet. When you get that weight off, you want to keep it off. Best of luck.

Spin classes last 60 minutes and the weight lifiting is 55-65 minutes.

I really appreciate everyone's input. I think I was over analyzing myself and it appears that I am on track...if not early to reach my goal.

If or when I hit a plateau, I think I will reconsider hiring a trainer.

    Thanks ALL!!!!

    Thanks everyone. If
  • Sounds like you are doing good on your own, I would maybe agree with the other person who said you aren't eating enough if you are doing that much excercise.
