BMI?

I am 5'8'' and currently 123#.
The BMI calculator on mfp states that my BMI is 18.7 and that if I lose another pound or two that I will be under my ideal BMI. However, I am small-boned and not comfortable in my clothes until I am around 120# or less.
And I know that I would feel miserable (fat!) at the top end of my BMI range.
How much of a consideration is BMI to your overall goals?

It's Just helpful. It's not set in stone because it does not take your build into account. Since you're only three pounds away go for it. Just don't be unhealthy.0

Possibly the clothes themselves. When I get really lean for my muscularity I pretty much have to have my clothes custom made. Shopping in stores probably won't work. Do you know your body fat percentage?0 -

No, I have never had my body fat % calculated.
Also, since I have hit my 40's, I seem to gain the weight in my belly and it takes longer to shed it. Even as little as 4 years ago my belly was flat and now with the change I know that affects my clothing fit too.0 -
Time to figure out what it is.0

Is that something I can do on my own or do I need someone else to do it?0 -

I'm 5'10" and have been 120lbs and perfectly healthy. Granted 25 years ago and 6% body fat, still healthy for an athletic male. She just needs to see what it is since it could reveal some things.0 -
Based upon your age, I'd have a full saliva hormone panel done. Could be your cortisol levels or even some slight thyroid issue. If you work in a stressful environment, may also be adrenal fatigue. All are worth looking into. I had trouble losing weight until I got my hormones under control. I did my testing through a nurse practitioner, but I also know UniKey.com sells kits online and they do a consultation with you after wards. I use bioidentical hormones through a compounding pharmacy, but you may just need the right supplements to get your cortisol balanced.0

LOL, I've put 40 pounds of lean mass on over the the last 25 years. What that really is will be revealed(to me) in about 8 weeks. I'm thinking 42. The picture without my shirt is 10% body fat at 166 pounds.0
