Hi everyone,
My story is I gained 50 pounds over the last 1.5 years after graduating college, moving to another town and beginning the bad habit of fast food meals. I used to jog 3-4 days per week to relieve the stress of college, and now I have become much more sedenary. I do not fit into very many clothes in my closet and I refuse to buy bigger sizes, so sweatpants and my work scrubs are my wardrobe staples. Its amazing how quickly I gained the weight without realizing it. I am determined to be back in shape and down at least 50 pounds by my wedding in September 2012.
Advice and support are greatly appreciated, as I get frustrated and plateau easily.
Great to meet you all!!

  • Firseflyangel,

Congratulations on the engagement! Right now my sister is also trying to lose weight for her wedding later this year. Isn't it ridiculous how you can wake up one day and be surprised at how much you have changed? I know personally for myself it has been a gradual weight increase. But, the reason I have gained a bit more weight was because of bad luck. This is going to sound so stupid but, one day coming home getting off the bus I fell. My tendons in my ankle swelled up so I had to be on crutches for two weeks in which I managed to gain at least 10 more pounds. After that I couldn't really get back to where I had been and here I am. I have been overweight for years and such but, those ten pounds really made me determined to change myself even more. Do your best fireflyangel it wont be easy but, we can do it!

Good luck on your weight loss journey! I really like MFP and the recipe section on here is so helpful! I tend to cook more then I did before! It helps me feel as if I'm not on a diet and can continue to use these recipes even if in time I'm not trying to lose any weight!!! Feel free to add me as a friend on here, the support is always nice!!!
  • Stick to counting your calorie intake, do your entries here on myfitnesspal everyday... Don't leave anything out... They say it takes 3 weeks to continually do something to form a habit..||Once you start a habit of doing your daily enteries you will stay on track..

Good luck.. Oh by the way I have just over 5 lbs off in a month..

I am new to this too. The one thing I do know is it is what you eat that is going to make the biggest difference. Exercise is important, but if you are exercising and eating like crap, it won't matter. I am a perfect example of that. I have been faithful at going to the gym, but then I get home and negate all that work. This has already proven to be a great help for me. I have a friend doing this with me so I know she will see what I eat. I am making much better choices and thinking about what I am eating and not being impulsive or stupid. I am already seeing a difference and excited about it. My advice, be true to this food diary. Try to find good healthy things to eat for your calories. Remember, the junky things won't fill you up and eat up more of your calories. Good luck! You can do it.
