Cool news, from the world of cereal! Kellogg's is reformulating and "healthing up" many of their classic cereals (like Froot Loops, Corn Pops, and Apple Jacks). The new versions (hitting shelves any day now!) all contain 12g of sugar or less per serving, and some have fewer calories and/or less sodium than before. The peeps at Kellogg's say the new versions will taste just as good as the originals. And speaking of cereal, check out this FREE MULTIGRAIN CHEERIOS SAMPLE offer (http://instoresnow.walmart.com/enhancedrendercontent_ektid43820.aspx )... Woohoo!
***Japanese-owned Otsuka Pharmaceuticals is trying harder than ever to make Americans love SOYJOY bars. Despite the addition of new flavors, CRAZY-CUTE commercials and super-clever ad campaigns, these bars, um, still taste HORRIBLE. Listen up, SOYJOY makers -- if you want us to eat these things, THE BARS NEED TO TASTE BETTER (it's not really all that complicated)!
***Speaking of weird things coming out of Japan, did you know there's a new national law there that requires companies and local governments to measure the waistlines of people between the ages of 40 and 74 at their annual physicals? Oversized people with weight-related ailments will be counseled if they don't drop weight within 3 months, and the government will eventually impose financial penalties on companies and local governments that fail to meet specific targets. BIZARRO, but they're trying to tackle obesity there. (Pssst... Hey, Japan -- if you want to solve the obesity problem, try feeding everyone over there SOYJOY bars instead.)
***Apparently creating cute videos about foods you love could result in getting LOTS of free stuff! Our girlie-pals over at WhateverHollywood.com found that out when they put together a little video featuring a song for their favorite crunchy snacks, Popchips. Go here( http://instoresnow.walmart.com/enhancedrendercontent_ektid43820.aspx ) to check out this catchy little ditty. That's all we've got. HG out!

ABOUT TIME!
You know what really made me mad--
we did a motorcycle trip through Canada bout 5 years ago, and I fell in love with Special K cereal up there. It was so freaking good! I was eating it at every meal. Anyway, we come home and I go to buy some Special K here in the U.S., and IT TASTES DIFFERENT! Not even the same texture or anything.
I had a box of Canadian Special K left, so I compared the ingredients and nutrional info with the U.S. Special K, and the U.S. version had more sodium, more sugar, and more carbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :explode:
I called Special K and asked them about it. They told me that the U.S. version was developed to "suit American tastes" while the Canadian was to "suit Canadian tastes." So I asked them I guess that might Canadians want to be healthy than us Americans or what?
And, you can't buy the Canadian version here!!!!! :explode: The company won't sell the Canadian version on this side of the border.0 -
Yep, I recently moved from the states to Canada. . .and everything is less sweet here. There's also a LOT less high fructose corn syrup in things.
Whenever I go back for a visit I am shocked at the sugar business. . .everything (bread, etc.) tastes like cake to me.
mmmmm. . . .cake.0 -

NOT FAIR! You Canucks get all the good stuff!!0 -
Not entirely true. . .
I'm forever smuggling Egg Protein powder and Clif Nectar bars over the border. . .shhhhh!:devil:0 -
Next time I'm up that way, I'm bringing back a freaking case of that Special K!! The border guys didn't confiscate the one box I had that time; although they did take a brand new 50 pound bag of dog food I had just purchased because of the "mad cow" beef scare0
