I'm always fascinated to know why people choose certain dates as their weight loss milestones.

Goals and sub/mini goals are crucial in weight loss - so if we are working to a deadline, these dates might as well mean something special to us. A random date in the calendar is not enough - worse, an undefined goal like "lose weight by end of the year?" What month? What date? What TIME? Being obsessed with a deadline is one of the sure fire ways of achieving success!

If you haven't put dates and a deadline on your weight loss - do it now! (or after reading the rest of my post)

I'm fortunate enough to have these dates spread out nicely over the year, and each one means something meaningful to me and my family. The time I've set is 6am weigh-in on these dates.

I see these goals - and my Spartacus visualization photo - everyday when I log in - daily inspiration makes all this hard work worthwhile...

FAT LOSS GOAL
Dec 28 - 122kg (a low point in my life)
Jan 8 - 118kg (discovering MFP!)
Mar 2 - 110kg (my 39th birthday - currently 110.5kg!)
May 15 - 99kg (my Dad's 65th birthday and my 30th Birthday weight 9 years ago)
June 27 - 93kg (my Son's 9th birthday)
July 17/18/19 - 90kg (my Mum's/Wife's/Daughter's birthday)
August 14 - 87kg (my 2nd 14k Marathon)
Oct 17 - 80kg (our 12th Year Wedding Anniversary)
Dec 28 - 77kg (back to my University training weight 20 years ago!)

So what's yours?

I chose to lose 100 lbs by my 29th birthday because it was on my 28th birthday that I realized I was too unhappy and disgusted with myself! I started my journey the day after my birthday in Oct of 2010 and haven't looked back. For now that's my only milestone. I have set short term goals for myself, that are just separated into 3 month increments for no specific reason. I want to lose about 155 lbs total (at least for now, will re-evaluate when I reach it!) but I have no goal end date really.
