OK, I am so upset now.
I have toured 3 fitness centers nad here is the deal.

I told them, I want 1 month free and I will pay upfront 1 month and I want to pay monthly instead of giviong someone access to my bank account. Been there, done that, several missing funds that no one could explain.

I have been several times, "they just cannot do that".

I think this is crap. If they brag about no contracts then what is the big problem??

They all want control.

Just not gonna do it.

As bad as I need to go, just will not be bullied ever again.......

  • I just purchased a one month pass to a local fitness center that is affiliated with our local Park and Recreation district. It cost $15/ month with no contract. There is a fitness room, elevated walking track, and several pools. You have to pay extra, though, to use the pools, but even that is only $2 per use or you can buy a discounted punch card (15 swims for $20). I, too, have been burned with contracts and gym memberships that I didn't use. Anyway, the fitness center is as nice as any gym that I've seen, and I feel so much better knowing that I didn't have to pay so much money just to get in shape. Maybe there is something similar in your area.

Do you have a local YMCA? I know that when I had a membership there, I could pay monthly.

    :grumble: ooohh I know!!
I eventually just gave in because I really wanted to get the membership, but instead of drawing it from my bank account, they charge my credit card on file, then I can dispute any added charges. I pay $20 a month for gym, pool, spa, sauna, and unlimited tanning. There was a 39.99 enrollment fee, but all in all, I didnt feel too taken- and I can take whoever I want with me, whenever I want, as many times as I want, so hubby didnt have to get his own membership, we just go together for only $20 a month, its pretty sweet I think
