Sodium

I just re-set the settings on my food journal to include sodium levels.
It really surprised me how much some of my favorite foods have!
Cheerios- 160mg
Cottage Cheese 1% - 480mg
Black beans 1/2 cup - 430 ( I rinse them off but still)
My protein/weight loss shake - 278
100 cal bread- 150
Light string cheese 230
Any other favorite foods people should worry about?

Canned tuna is high, unless you can find low sodium ones.0

I've seen No Sodium Salt...helps a lot.0

Anything processed is generally a bad bet - deli meat, frozen foods (yes, even the frozen chicken breasts, turkey breasts, etc. are injected with a salty solution..). I recommend purchasing meat directly from a meat market/butcher to avoid added salts. For stuff like salsa/guacamole, whip up your own batch - really easy, fresh tasting and you control what goes into it. Salad dressings can be really high up there too.0

for the cheerios, 160mg is pretty low
for the cottage cheese you can buy reduced sodium (still has 200 or so mgs)
For Black beans, you can by them dried and let them soak overnight in water <100mgs0 -
1/4 cup Egg Beaters has 115 mg sodium. 1 egg has 65 mg...0

You probably have thought of this, but soup is loaded with it. Also boxed pasta meals (with sauce, etc).0
