logging calories burned

Ok so I have a HRM so I know exactly how many calories I burn during exercise. My question is do you stop your HRM right when the workout is over or when your HR gets back to resting point? For example I do the Jillian Michaels 6 week Six pack DVD and it lasts 35 mins, As soon as I am finished I stay on my feet and moving just to keep my HR up just like doing laundry or something, so should i just log what I burn in those 35 mins of the dvd or log all of the calories burned until i sit down and rest?

I'm interested to hear what people say about this! My HRM measures my 'fitness' and 'fat burning' heart rate zones, so I turn mine off as soon as my heart rate drops down into the 'fat burning' zone.0

I stop mine the second I step off the track, weight room floor, or reach my drive way post-run. The calories you burn doing other things are part of your BMR not the actual exercise so I stop. If you burn a few extra calories here and there, its a bonus right?0

yeah I know that but my HR is higher when I do things right after a workout because my HR doesnt have a chance to get back to resting. I dont burn that many calories cleaning and what not if i just get up and clean, not working out before...so thats why I was confused!!0

I think it would be your choice as to how you do it. I like to turn it off as soon as I am done because the other calories that I burn are extra. One way you can track the difference is to reset the timer (or however you would start a new workout) to calulate how many you actually burn in the workout, and how many in the activity after.0

When I workout at the gym, I turn it on as soon as I walk out the locker room door and turn it off as soon as I walk back into the locker room.
When I'm at home, I turn it on when I step on the machine and turn it off as soon as my workout is over.0 -
My habit has been to turn mine off immediately after exercising, which includes cool down stretching. however, today i have been wearing my HRM all day because I wanted to get a 24 hour reading on how many calories I am burning.0

My HRM only registers calories burned when my heart rate is over 100bpm. I let it go until I have finished stretching and cooling down and my HR is under 100.0

I stop it right when I'm done!
I know my HR stays up for awhile but I know if I log them in I may eat more than I really want to just because I see oh I have more calores to eat! Or I view them as bonus calories because sometimes I don't log every single thing I bit or the cal info on the meals I make might be wrong0
