I generally don't eat mine and I am doing fine without eating them.

No flaming just want to warn you that most GPs are not experts on nutrition.

To OP: Just make different food choices, you don't have to eat more food to eat more calories. Eat nuts, seed and/or dehydrated fruit as a snack. Have a glass of juice in place of 1 glass of water, add avocado to sandwiches and salads, add olive oil to soups and salads, eat nut butters. Eat higher fat versions of food you are already eating (milk, cheese, yogurt, salad dressing etc.)
  • I am having problems losing 1 kg, and was told at my gym review that I may not be eating enough food and my body may have gone into starvation mode stopping burning up fat. So I am trying his advise take two weeks off from the gym and eat my daily calorie intake. Three days in and I have not gained any weight.

    Ditto. Stay strong, sister.

I eat to satisfy hunger, getting my 1200+ calories in, and do not force myself to eat. Along with workouts, I've lost 24 pounds in just under a month.

There is some truth to this statement. The heavier you are, and the more fat you have, the easier you can deal with higher decifits. So starvation mode is definitely harder to achieve if you have significant weight to lose. The OP, based on her weight, I wouldn't qualify as significantly overweight, so I think she could run the risk, especially if she was on 1200 calories a day to begin with.

As to the OP, the important thing about getting all of your calories is making good food decisions throughout the day. Good food decisions involve eating healthy foods with calories as much as it involves eating low calorie food. Try to add Peanut butter, fruit juice, fruits, milk, cereal, bread, eggs, yogurt, and nuts to your diet.
  • i dont usually eat mine and im doing ok so far, i do have a problem with people who constantly say "you HAVE to eat them back" i believe in eating till im satisfied, i wont "force" myself to eat if im not hungry, just my opinion... :)

Hunger is not a very accurate way to detect nutritional requirements/needs. As you stomach can expand and contract. If you ate a lot for a couple of days it will take more to "fill" you up the following day as your stomach is stretched, even if your energy requirements don't warrant additional calories.

MFP is set up the way it is for a reason, the only way to meet your goal caloric deficit is to eat your exercise calories back. Would you join WW and not count points? Eating exercise cals is a significant part of MFP.

EDIT: Oops, Double post. But it's so important a topic that it's worthy posting twice.
  • I haven't been eating my exercise calories, but I want to lose more than 2 pounds per week sooo....
I'm trying to figure out what I should do and am trying to find ways I can go about eating enough calories so I'm 1200+ after exercise.
