Read up on High Glycemic Load. I think you will find your sugar allowance is way out of whack unless you have blood sugar issues.

  • I was JUST saying this the other day! Nuts right??! I stopped looking at that cause like you said a banana basically kills you for the day. I focus on calories and fat (MFP gives you 40 but I stay at 20) and slightly on carbs and protein. I can't make this too complicated or I'll end up giving up.

Most sites suggest 40-50 grams sugar total the 25 on MFP I use as a guideline for added sugar, you will have to minus out the sugar in milk and fruit to see what your total is and compare that to your 25.

It seems as though as you have a lot of natural sugar in your diet, ie the milk and the fruit, which is a lot better for you than the processed stuff, and I think your intake should be no more than about 40 or 45 grams.

My intake is set to 37g. I understand not to 'count' the natural sugars (I just posted about this yesterday!) but how can I tell from reading the nutrition fact label what is added sugar and what is natural?

I change my settings so you can see my sugar. Says I'm over, correct? Well, that's a Paleo diet with low glycemic load. Nothin' wrong with my sugar at all. MFP should track Glycemic load and put the issue to bed.

Are you endurance training?? Your ratio is 15/55/30 Protein/Carb/FAt

If not, you can change that to something more moderate like 30/40/30and easily get some carbs out of your diet.

    You are freaking over nothing.

You don't have to worry about natural sugar from milk or fruit (to a certain extent, of course). What you need to focus on is refined and added sugars.
