I just read an MSN News Article on stretching before running. It said one in six runners will have an injury whether you stretch before a run or not. The other thing the article identified was to basically stick to the same routine - if you stretch, continue to but if you don't there is no need to start.

I don't know what the rules are on reposting other articles on here, so I don't want to, but I'm just curious what other runner's take is on this. I really believe that my injury came from not stretching, before or after, along with some other things. I'd love to hear other input on stretching.

I am ABSOLUTELY not a genius! But... I read (in Runner's World, I believe) that stretching before running is good for you, but to actually do a couple laps or a few minutes of walking/jogging to be most effective. Same article said stretching after any workout is HUGELY important--it reduces the lactic acid, which is what makes your muscles sore and slower to repair.

Check out Runner's World or any other running sites for stretching tips (and maybe and actual genius  )!
