So glad I found this site. December 2010 I was diagnosed with a renal tumor and January 24 I had it removed by RFA procedure. When diagnosed I was in the ER with a BP of 222/122 (no that's not a typo). My doctor told me to lose weight or.....you get the idea.
Started January 1 at 256 lbs. Lost 10 lbs doing Adkins (with my doctor's supervision) Decided that I needed a more healthy and balanced diet. Tried Weight Watchers, but with their new point system I GAINED 4 lbs. Reverted to physical science 101 and came to grips with the simple concept of "Calories In - Calories Out and found this site using my Droid Market. Since then I have been watching and documenting everything I eat. I'm somewhat of a Type A personality so I have no problem weighing, measuring and keeping the diary.
After surgery my doctor stated he wanted me to exercise and suggested P90X. I found myself too out of shape for that program and scaled back to the Power 90 program. Currently working out 6 days a week, 30 minutes a day. I feel great, and starting to look better.
Oh, and that super high BP? Without my medication it has dropped to 132/70. Doctor hopes to have me off BP medication completely by the time I reach my goal weight.
Cancer and the threat of death are huge motivators
