Can someone give me an idea for an easy way to cook fish. And what kind you usually buy? Not experienced with cooking fish, but want to start making it more. Thanks!

I'm not big on fish (only like it fresh) so I don't make it often. The Harry's (Whole Food's) near us carries a Pecan Breaded Tilapia that is very tasty; they bread it on site. I'll put it on a cookie sheet, put a little butter on it to help crisp the breading and bake it for 15-20mins.0

I usually bake fish at 350 degrees ( salmon, talapia, trout) with seasons for 20-25 minutes, but broiling can be tastey too, you just need to keep your eye on it, broiling is really fast. If you want some breading, I like to use potato flakes with seasoning... and then lightly spray with a cooking spray to crisp it up. If you want more fat you could fry it on top of the stove.0

I like to buy frozen tilapia and frozen, precooked shrimp.
For the tilapia, the kind I buy at walmart has tons of different cooking instructions, but my favorite way to cook tilapia is to grill it on my small, george foreman grill for 4 minutes. You can also broil it for about 5 to 10 minutes until it starts to flake.
For the shrimp, I pop them in the microwave for 2 minutes until they thaw and heat up, remove the tails, and enjoy.
I hope I helped!0 -
Poached, grilled steamed or baked in foil is healthiest... You can wrap fish in foil with herbs and spices you like and bake at about 180c (time depends on portion) I put a slice of onion and some garlic in with mine, and fresh parsley is good. I also poach white fish in water with a splash of milk, and some herbs - very slow simmer till it looks done, don't let it boil or it will disintegrate! Salmon is great in foil with herbs...0

We made a good poached salmon last night.
boil 4 cups water
2cups white wine
1tbl spoon black pepper corns
1 leak
1 onion
3 stalks celery
2 cloves of garlic
handfull of carrots
1 tsp salt
boil it for an hour..reduce heat...drop in 4-6oz sections of salmon...cook for 5 min ..then let sit in juices for 5 more...serve it up..drop on a little of the veggies..and some juice...we had it with basmati...was pretty good.0 -
