Count Pizza Calories??

Tonight we are going out for my son's birthday. He wants to go to a local pizza joint so I know that they will not have a website with their nutritional information. Any ideas on how I can go about estimating my calories for this? I try to keep a very accurate food log so I want to make sure that I am tracking this, I just don't know how. It is a very thin crusted pizza that is cut into squares but they use a lot of cheese. I've just finished 31 days of working towards becoming healthier and I'm very proud of how far I have come. I am going to enjoy a few pieces of pizza tonight--no guilt. I need to be able to do that if I am going to be able to make this a life long commitment. I am down a total of 15 pounds as I lost 4 pounds before I started mfp. I've never stuck to something this long but mpf has just made it so very doable (is that a word?) Anyway--can't wait for supper! Thanks for any ideas that you have for me on tracking these calories.

Just log the closest thing to what you are going to eat. Look up "Pizza" (the type you will eat) and log the calories. Doesn't have to be exact...it's mostly all the same.0

Sometimes I just pick a random thing that shows up in the database if there's no information listed. Pizza tends to be fairly similar, but I don't stress too much about it. I usually leave a margin for error anyways in my calorie count.
Enjoy the pizza - you've done great so far so enjoy it, guilt-free!!0 -
What if you fill up on a nice big salad, then track the closest thing in MFP's database? We ate at a pizza place the other day. I had a chicken caeser salad then a small piece of pizza. The pizza didn't taste as good as the salad did! :laugh:0

I eat "pizza joint" pizza kind of a lot- usually I account for 300-350 for a "single" cheese slice at one of those (theyre usually pretty big) and about 400-450 for a pepperoni.0

When I know something is not going to be on the database, I use a similar item and do a "best guess" estimate. It will not hurt you to have a fun night out and enjoy pizza with your family. You might be able to ask the place to go a little lighter on the cheese is you think it is too much. Just remember that you have been working hard and it is okay to enjoy some pizza with your son :-)0

Try "Generic Pizzeria" I think that is what I used last time to figure out how much per slice. Have fun!0

Hmm...that sounds like a local pizza place they have here in Indiana. Pizza King. Very thin crust and cut into squares. Their specialty is Royal Feast. Mmmm...they do have some yummy pizza!0
