I've seen the kraft dinner mac and cheese in stores that are made with vegetable flour. I hadn't bought it yet and now I'm glad I passed it up.

This article outlines the nutritional changes to the product and you end up with:

12% more saturated fat
9% more sodium
12% more sugar
4% less protein

(full article here http://www.weightymatters.ca/2010/05/badvertising-kd-smart-thinks-youre-kd.html)

Mac and cheese is a treat food so no point eating a less tasty one that is actually worse for you

I agree, so why do you think they put it out there? Do you think that they think "we" don't read labels and would believe it is a more healthy "better" product. Who would be interested in this product...maybe those who are lactose intolerant only, and they would be eating even more unhealthy, too.

They just want to cash in on the healthy product market and are too lazy to make an actual healthy product.

Plus you get less pasta in each box and it costs more than the classic kind. It's just such a lame product and so misleading

If I'm going to indulge in something like pasta and cheese... then its going to be the REAL ooey, gooey made-from-scratch with all fresh cheese type. :)

I'd rather have the real homemade stuff too, it just irks me that they are trying to pretend it's health food
