Weakness foods...

Okay, admit it. We all have them. Weakness foods- foods that we love and crave and sometimes can't stop eating once we get a hold of them! I.E. Cookies!! LOL, anyways I was wondering what you guys do to take control. Do you avoid your weakness foods at all costs or do you exhibit a lot of self-control to only take 2 cookies instead of 5??! For me, trail mix is my weakness. I can't just eat one serving. I have begun to avoid it at all costs b/c my will power fails.

All my weaknesses are carbs. Pizza, chips, cookies, ice cream etc. Since I started the Anabolic Diet, I only have 6 cheat hours a week for my carb up. It's actually gotten pretty easy! The first couple carb ups were difficult to come back from, but at this point, it's just say no on weekdays - simple rules!

I understand about that. I used to help polish off a whole bag of cookies! Now, I limit myself to two cookies at a time. I just do it because I have to. Because I want to be healthy more than I want a ton of cookies or any other junk food. You have to be stronger than the trail mix. There's no real trick besides not having the bag sitting in front of you. Take your two cookies or your one serving and walk away. I love fat free newtons and there are others. Trail mix is very good, I used to eat whole bags of that stuff, too. I don't recommend avoiding it because you will be tempted eventually to binge on it. You have to train yourself to one serving. Measuring cups/spoons and kitchen scales are your friends. I now know exactly how much cereal is supposed to be in the bowl or even ice cream. Hint!! One regular cake cone (20 cal) holds about 1/2 cup of ice cream with a small dome on top!! This avoids the "pile of ice cream" I used to have in a bowl.
Have your trail mix, but make sure you realllllllly want it. Measure it and log it! You'll find that when you do this, it will last longer, too. Ex: I have a container of heart healthy mixed nuts that I only have 1 oz of at a time. I used to eat almost the whole thing in one sitting. It has lasted longer and I am proud that I can have my treats and still be okay. Good luck to you!! :flowerforyou:0 -
You should never deprive yourself of something but at the same time, you have to have self- control. Pizza is my weakness, its hard to only have one piece and even harder to just say no all together. I'm watching my caloric intake, therefore if I want a piece of pizza I will lower my calorie count in another meal or eat less snacks. I havn't had pizza in such a long time! Trail mix is a lot healthier than pizza too, darn my weakness!0

Peanut M&Ms at the moment , I cant have them in the house otherwise the packet would be gone.
Then again all chocolate isnt safe either0 -
SUSHIIII0
-
Yeah.....just don't keep it in the house if you know it is a weakness. That would be silly. If you are trying not to drink, you don't keep a bottle in the liquor cabinet, you know? I even make my boyfriend hide cookies from me when he insists on buying them.0

Mint Chip Ice Cream & I am not talking the low calorie stuff either. If I'm going to blow it, I'm going to blow it the right way!!!0

pretty much anything with refined sugars: chocolate, cake, cupcakes, cookies, etc. I try to avoid them as much as I can or substitute other stuff in so that I'm satisfied.0

my weakness....sushi :P so in order to be able to enjoy it and not feel guilty, i don't go for all maki rolls(wrapped in rice), i stick with the sashimi mostly and maybe a maki roll of some sort, or maybe some sushi pieces, the little formed blobs of rice with the fish on top.
i know, not the same as cookies and pizza and french fries, but the amount of sushi i can sit and eat...it sure can have the same cals as all those others.0 -
Pirate Booty is my weakness, I can't not eat it. I just make sure I burn enough calories to earn it. :bigsmile:0

I'm with the pizza...specifically, Home Run Inn pizza (it's a Chicago thing, but NOT deep dish) It seriously is my favorite pizza ever! I thought I would be able to control it...you know, buy the pizza, cook it, cut it up and put the extras in the fridge right away....
NOPE....polished off the whole thing by the end of the night :blushing:
So...the way I control it...I don't buy it. Or any other kind. It doesn't enter my home. Except for when I do have a crazy craving for it, I buy a Lean Cuisine or Weight Watchers frozen 'pizza'. It satisfies the craving...enough for me to stop thinking about it, at least!!
At least I've learned...but I sure do miss it!! LOL :ohwell:0 -

SAME. Sushi is my ALL TIME biggest binge food.
I cannot resist it, no matter how hard i try.
Im vegan so i guess its good i can only eat most of the small rolls
But its so bad for my diet and wallet,
Other then that peanut butter.
I can demolish a whole jar of it if im in a really bad state.
Like just before finally was 2 weeks clean of peanutbutter and i just cracked and had two spoonfuls0 -
Biscuits. If they find a way into my house, I just can't eat one or two. I HAVE to overindulge. But from now on, I'll be buying whole wheat biscuits! YAY!0

Weakness food? Hmmm probably Panda's all natural licorice. I had like 3 servings of it when I came home a bit tipsy tonight ....not my proudest moment....but it is what it is.0

Mine is in my signature. lol
I realized that I could turn down and/or walk away from any other food, no matter how much I love it or may even want it at that time. Except for a donut. I have yet to be presented with the opportunity to have a donut that I didn't accept it and eat it.
Mind you, I've never eaten more than one at a time (since MFP) but I just can't seem to be strong enough to say no to a donut. They are my one true weakness in that way.
But there hasn't been anything, since joining MFP, that I've gone crazy with or eaten a bunch of in one sitting or binged on, however you want to say it, unless it was a pre-planned time for enjoyment. I do everything on MFP 100% on my phone, so I check everything I may possibly want to eat in the log first, before I even pick it up. And that's typically enough to stop me from actually eating it.0 -
Mine are the choc chip peanut butter biscuits I make. I've had to stop, which is a shame, because everyone loves them! They're not too bad for you, at 80 cals in a decent size chewy biscuit, my problem is I can't stop at one! :grumble:0
-
A lot of people have been saying that you shouldn't "forbid' foods from yourself, otherwise you obsess and will binge. I don't necessarily agree, because I find that often I behave in exactly the opposite manner! Like If I have even one of my weakness foods (cookies are the bigggggg one! anyy kind), I just can't stop! So I just don't start. If I never start, I forget about them in a few minutes, but once I eat that first one I just have to have another and another, and that's when the binge starts.
I've found that when I want that weakness food SO BAD I JUST HAVE TO HAVE IT.....that's when it's the MOST important to say no!!0 -
Cookies, cookies, cookies!! Ugh I am definitely keeping track of this thread. I have a hard time having one cookie or a serving before I end up eating every one in front of me!0
-
70% dark chocolate0

I love, love, LOVE bread. Wheat bread, sourdough, sweet bread. UGH so good. I'm actually not a fan of cakes or pastries, just straight bread. Unfortunately, I'm also allergic to wheat, so things get a little complicated there.0

Sushi....bad for you???!!!0

CHEETOS. Not the off brand nasties, but the real Cheetos. Give me a new bag, 10 minutes later I will hand you the empty bag while still licking my orange finger tips, lol.0

I LOVE Mexican food. I'm a salt, fat, grease weakness guy, and Mexican food has it all. If I have a "junk day", I'll get Mexican food, and go for maybe chicken dishes as apposed to beef dishes. I’ll eat chicken tacos or enchiladas and I’ll ask for easy on the cheese and no sour cream. I eliminate “some” of the extra calories, but not all of them because………..it’s a junk day!!!0

Butter Pecan Ice Cream0

Candy canes (still working my way, one cane at a time, through a box of mini canes from the beginning of December), Starbursts (leftover Halloween candy, again, slowly disappearing), and the mini chocolate easter eggs with the sugar shells (which have just hit the stores, but I cannot really bring myself to buy any while I still have part of the bag of Halloween candy I bought.)
So, after Easter, when they're totally reduced, I might buy a bag and see if I can make it last until Halloween....0 -
I have too many weaknesses in foods which is my problem in a nutshell!! Dont have them in the house!
I love cakes and cookies, I only allow myself to have these if I have baked them myself, which means I know EXACTLY what is in then (no trans fats etc) and I have to make the effort to do it.
OR find a shop a few kms away and if you really really have to have it - walk there to get it and walk back!0
