I went running yesterday for 50 minutes and ended up with big blisters on the bottom of my feet. :( I need some new shoes that will give me good support. Any suggestions? I'm new to this so I don't even know where to start.

Thanks!

I love my Runtones. I don't do much actual running (I hope to start soon) but I wear them for everything, they're fantastic!
  • The best place to start is by going to a specialty running shoe store to be professionally fitted for shoes. It changed my whole experience of running.

I'm not an expert, but I have to run being in the military, my problem is very narrow feet. I have found that the only shoe that fits and works well from me is Reebok "Bounce". Not sure what your needs are but I think everyone is different so you may want to go to a shoe store (a running store) and have a professional hook u up.

Aside from going to a local running store and having them analyze your stride, which is a good thing to do, I'm a huge fan of Vasque running shoes. Don't go cheap on your running shoes, this is the one piece of a equipment you should spend the big bucks on. No 15.00 walmart pieces of crap. We are talking about your shins, knees, and hips here. I think Vasque are fantastic, but my brother is an avid runner too and he loves Saucony and New Balance. You can get any of these on Amazon. Also, about running, if you are just starting out, that is great, but don't over do it. I find way too many people pick up their miles and running time way too fast and end up with shin splints or feel they can't do it. This is a walking sport when you get started. There is a great website you can google couch potatoe to 5K and I highly recommend it. I hope this helps you. Happy Running!!!
  • I highly recommend you go to a professional running store and get fitted for sures that will take care of your feet. A sports store worth your money will ask to see your old shoes (for the wear pattern) and will do a gait assessment.

I agree on the running store. Blisters can also be affected by sox. I suggest getting some good fitting coolmax sox. No cotton.

If you have blisters from rubbing, try BodyGlide. This stopped me from getting blisters between toes. I still don't think my feet would hold up to a marathon, so I've just ordered some injinji toe sox.

You need to determine if you Pronate or Supinate. I supinate so I need extreme cushioning. I use Asics Nimbus.

    Good Luck.
