I just purchased the Zumba CD's and they arrived in the mail last week. I LOVE to dance so I thought this might be a more fun way to work out and something I can switch up with the running on the treadmill that I'm already doing. I've been watching the CD's while I'm on the treadmill so I can get some idea of what to expect. Is anyone doing Zumba or thinking about starting it? I'm going to start with it tomorrow...it looks pretty intense.

I'm going to my first Zumba class at the gym on Tuesday. I hope I don't die.
  • Zumba is so fun! No matter what dvd you have..its a great workout! I started going to zumba classes with my bestfriend a while back and we were so scared because of the hard work. It turned out to be SO fun...I think you'll enjoy it! =)

Hi, the DVDs are great just take your time and have fun. I am an instructor and I have all levels in my classes and they all laugh and have a blast.

One tip, since you have a dance background make sure that when you are doing the DVDs or taking a class that you don't spend the whole time on the balls of your feet (like you would in ballroom dancing) otherwise your calves will not like you

Let me know if you have any other questions

    Zumba love

I'm anxious to try it...it does look pretty intense though. Hey, I have a question about it though...maybe some of you can answer it for me. The Cardio Party CD is broken up into sections with different styles of music, right? Well, am I expected to do the entire 50 min. CD in one session, moving from section to section? It seems like a lot without a break. LOL :noway:

I started going to the Zumba class at my gym about a month ago, and I love it! It's hard work, but you don't realize it at the time because it's so much fun!

The class I go to is 55 minutes, and we take enough to a break to grab some water and for the instructor to change the song if she needs to. It's intense, but not too bad after you do it a few times.

I think the sections of the CD are up to you. The class I go to is 45 minutes and we only get a break for a few seconds between songs! I also do Zumba on the PS3 Move. I am only on the beginner level and there are 2 "20 minute classes" on there, which I do back to back, getting water while the second "class" loads. I love it! It is so intense but works muscles that all my running and biking just don't reach! Plus it is really fun =)

The best thing about Zumba is you always go at your own pace, whether it is through the game console, DVDs, or class. Take breaks when you need them and always have plenty of water.

I would suggest getting a heart rate monitor if you don't already have one, you will be amazed at how many calories you burn and having so much fun doing so!
