    Congrats!! Bet that feels amazing!

Vanity sizing is a very craft ploy used by designers and shops to make women feel better when buying clothes.

Years ago a size 10 was probably equivalent to a size 4-6 in todays sizes.

If women are wearing a good size, smaller than normal...it makes them feel confident/happy and encourages them to buy.

I am a 12 and tried on my friends size 12 wedding dress on which she wore about 25 years ago....

There was a good 5 inch gap at the back.

That's so funny! I'm sure they washed the dress in hot water and it shrunk?
Just kidding....I know they do this to the sizes....we like to fool ourselves :-)

I'd like to know which stores do vanity sizing! I'll gladly fall for it if it means I could get into a four. haha

I think the sizes are different. In Junior High, I went from a kid's size to a size 3. I'm pretty sure they didn't have 0 and 2 back then. Maybe they did but I never saw one. My size 8 jeans from years ago fit the same as size 6 in the stores now. I don't know if this is vanity sizing or if the sizes just changed at some point.

Does anyone else refuse to buy a size bigger than you know you are? Like the opposite of vanity sizing, when the store's sizing runs too small? Like I know I wear a size 6 or 8...if the 8 is too tight, I won't even think about trying on the 10 because it makes me feel like I am gaining weight when I know I am not.

Congrats on the 4! You are inspiration! I was a 4 before I had my daughter and was almost back down to it when I stopped exercising...aiming now to get back down to it!

yikes! not that much! lol. i still have jeans from my sister (from high school) and they are a size six. they are a tiny bit tight but still fit. :) so i think my size four from ann taylor is the same size (maybe a skosh bigger) as my size sixes from ralph lauren from 1996. not a huge difference, like a size 10.

the waist on both is 26 inches.

edited to add that in high school i was a 0 and 00 so they made them that size 'back in the day'. :)

Great job! I love Anne Taylor and I don't think it is vanity sizing. It is that sizes have changed but I think Anne Taylor is an average for the size now of days.

I thought this was happening, but people kept telling me it wasn't true. So I wasn't crazy!
