I'm not losing weight

I feel like I'm doing everything right and nothing is happening. It's just such a slow losing process for me. It's discouraging. Especially when I see others around me, doing half the amount of work I am and eating worse, dropping pounds like no body's business.

For example. Last week according to my HRM I burned 5038 calories, and I also gained .8lbs!! That doesn't even make sense!

I track everything I'm eating. I exercise. It frustrating. Yes I have lost some weight, I've gone from about 248 in September, post baby, to where I am now which is about 206. But that's 9 months to lose 40lbs? Is that right?

Sorry but I needed to vent about my furstration. Thanks.

Congrats on a weight loss number one!!! (We need streamers!!!)

And it sounds as though you're doing very well! It may be you hit a platue. Also, as the more experienced MFPers can inform you, sometimes we over estimate how many calories we're burning and get stuck. When logging my pedometer steps, I was told to log just 75% instead of all. I'm guessing because it prevents over estimation on activity.

Have you been measuring? When you're working out so hard, you're building muscle mass, which naturally weighs more than fat. Are your clothes looser and the pants easier to zip?

There are a million reasons why you may not be losing as quickly, if you have a chance, try reading through the forums. Anything you see by Banks will be a great read.

    Don't give up chickie! :flowerforyou:

Hi Jamariqui! I am no expert, but it sounds like you are on the right track. Have you made sure you are eating enough? I didn't loose anything for two months, then when I got on this website and saw that I was supposed to be eating back my excercise calories, I was floored. Your body goes into starvation mode and holds onto the fat. Also, it sounds like you were losing about 4 pounds a month which is definitely withing the healthy/normal weight loss zone. Those pounds will stay off! Woo-hoo! And one other note, don't obsess about .8 pounds and day to day fluctuations. Give yourself a weigh in day each week, and try to stay off the scale the rest of the week. Be proud of yourself! 40 pounds lost is an awesome achievement! Keep up the hard work, don't get frustrated and sabotage yourself, believe me, I am only speaking from experience! haha.

Should have divided, too--your loss of rate is actually fine. You can't judge your progress by others. I am losing at a fast rate but I have a lot to lose and can got a higher daily deficit right now because of that. I'm also working closely with my doctor who monitors my meds, weight loss, etc.

Healthy weight loss isn't possible through the "fast food mentality"--meaning, it's not drive up, lose 20 pounds a month, and be done in snap. It takes time.

Still, my original questions still stand...

I know how you feel- people are always looking for it to come off fast and quick I am def guilty of that- but just remember the weight didn't pile on over night and it isn't going to come off over night-- my weight has been about the same give or take the same 3 lbs that I lose and gain since febuary-- I can't get it to budge and trust me I just want to give up at times but you can't you have to keep going the results will happen-- but don't push yourself too hard because then you will end up injured like me:grumble: -- just keep your goal in sight and you will be fine I know thats not what you want to hear cause its not what i want to hear either when i was at my low--

    Thanks everyone for the enocouragement.

I don't eat all my exercise calories, I feel bad doing it. Maybe I'm not eating enough. But I don't like to eat when I'm not hungry.

I use a HRM to measure how many calories I burn, I've always thought that was a pretty accurate way to measure. Prior to it, I would over or understimate my activity.

Perhaps it is a plateau, and I have to push through it. I guess it could be a million and one things.

OH and I have gone down 3 sizes since I've started and loss almost 10inches so far from my waist. The exercise is great for that. I am much healthier person and probably more fit now at 205lbs than I was when I was 135. LOL

These are all things to celebrate, and I do. Just today it seems hard dealing with the actual numbers.
