I need a good HRM so I can be more accurate on how many calories I'm burning with my work outs...I love MFP but not sure if I trust the exercise cals it gives back to me, since I know it's just a guesstimate. Any suggestions?

I use the Polar FT4. I love it. If you get any HRM make sure it has a chest strap and that it actually calculates the calories for you.0

I have a sigma sport something or another. I'm very fond of it. But I have found that the exercise calories mfp predicts are pretty accurate for me, anyway.0

I have this model as well and I LOVE it. It's so nice having a more accurate calorie count than mfp estimates. Sometimes I burn more and sometimes less. Chest strap is definitely as must, though. I'm so used to mine, sometimes I forget to take it off for a little while. lol. I think this is a great model for a decent price. I bought mine from Amazon. Hope you find one you love!!0 -
Another Polar FT4 user/fan here. It's super comfy, don't even notice it's on. And has definitely helped with me feel more confident in my exercise calories. I also got mine from Amazon, and wish I'd gotten it even sooner than I did.0

I also have a Polar, but an FT7. The chest strap is soft and flexible, you can change the batteries yourself, you can see how many calories you are burning DURING the workout along with your current HR and time. At the end it will tell you your average HR and Max HR and total calories burned.
You can't go wrong with polars!0 -
I love my Polar FT4. Worth every penny. I tried several and returned all except this one.0

Awesome! I was looking at the FT4 before I posted this, so this was a good confirmation.
thank you!

Same here. It's one of the best investments I've made, along with good running shoes. If you're looking at Polars make sure you check whether or not you can change the battery yourself. On some you have to send it in or take it to an authorized dealer to have it changed.0
