I was looking at Footlocker and they have the FT4 for 89.95 and the FT7 is 109.95. Could anyone give me a reason why I should spend the extra to get the FT7? The FT4 is pink and looks cuter than the FT7! Can I wear this all day to track calories burned or should I just use for workouts? What about battery life? Any suggestions would be great! Happy Monday!

You can do a comparison of the product features here - www.polarelectro.co.uk. I've been having a look too and will be interested in what people say as I am trying to make the same decision!

The HRM are not meant to be worn all day. You won't get an accurate measure of the calories you burn if you wear it longterm like that. I just bought a bodymedia fit for 149.99 at best buy and you can wear it long term and tracks your calories during workouts too.. It's only 40 more than the polar ft7 if you're looking to find that out. Otherwise I had a Polar Ft7 that I loved but I don't know what features you'd use.

I have the FT4 and love it .... For me someone who is completely new to working out and just starting my weight loss journey all I wanted to know was when Im in my target heart rate zone and how many calories I burned when I was walking outside, on the track, in the gym or even playing kinect games ..... It is very simple to use and I know how to change the weight when I am ready to change the weight .... Personally Im not sure of the difference between the 4 and 7 but for the simple things I wanted I have found the 4 very useful and I know it does even more than what Im using it for but obviously its not of any use to me because I havent discovered what those functions are ... LOL!!!!

My watch is new so Im not sure how long the batteries will last or anything else ..... either way I am sure you will love them both!
  • Hiya!! I personally have a FT4 and love it :) got it from amazon for £54.99:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Polar-FT4-Heart-Rate-Monitor/dp/B0037V01SK

(it is kind of pink but to me it looks like my skin with a nice bronzer on!)

For battery life and other specs see the user manuals at the polar website (it is in there I promise!):

    http://www.polar-deutschland.de/en/support/downloads?product=&category=User manuals

I know I wouldn't use all the functions of the other model so didn't want to waste (my dads) money.

You don't really need to were a HRM all day if you work out your RMR (stands for Resting Metabolic Rate, and is synonymous with Resting Energy Expenditure or REE)

    see page below:

    http://www.caloriesperhour.com/tutorial_BMR.php

Sorry I haven't actually answered your questions in this box but there's alot to consider when buying your HRM and to put all that in here would be too much!!

    Good luck xx

I have the FT7, and I love it. Really easy to use and comfortable to wear. It stores a ton of training files. It also tells you if you are in the "Fat Burn" or "Fitness" heart rate zone. It's kind of nice that it just says that in words so you don't really have to think about the numbers in the middle of a workout. You can also upload your workout files to a computer with the FT7 (I haven't used that feature because I didn't buy the upload accessory).

As was suggested earlier, I would check out the product comparison on Polar's website: http://www.polarusa.com/us-en/products/compare
