Work, school, and still making progress!

Today I weighed in and lost only 1pound and zero inches. I was glad the scale didn't stay the same (at least), but I didn't get that happy about the 1 pound loss. I realized just now I'm not giving myself enough credit for what I AM accomplishing!
I've been on here for just 21 days and though I thought I would be losing weight a lot faster, as of today, I've lost 3 inches in my waist and 4 pounds.
Considering I'm trying hard to balance working full time, going to school, and cooking healthy, whole foods that I bring with me to work & school (which I've been doing every day!) and fitting in exercise in between all of that - I'm really kickin' *kitten*! If you can relate I'd love to hear from you!
I really hope that in 9 more days, I will have reached a lost of 4 inches in my waist and 8 pounds total. See you on day 30 of being with MFP!

Just remember this is a lifestyle change and a hard process! Everybody's body reacts to losing weight differently so try not to get discouraged when the numbers don't go down as much as you'd like. I've had weeks where I thought I lost a couple pounds and only lost 1/2 a pound and weeks where I thought I'd lost nothing and actually lost 3lbs... it's tricky that way. As long as you know you are working hard and doing your best to achieve your goals - that's what matters. But I think on MFP we ALL know how frustrating it is to not get to the results we'd like as quickly as we'd like -- you have lots of understanding supporters here!0

I am so glad you posted this...I was just sitting here feeling sorry for myself! I too am a mother and student, holding a full-time job. I am having some problems with an online class and I am kind of down in the dumps with the whole school thing. I am tired of alway having work to do...that takes away from my family. I was so ready to go grab something "not good" but after reading your post I feel better. If you can do it, I can too:) Thanks for the post!0

Congrats on still making progress. I understand how hard it can be with balancing all of those things. That is the main reason I have gained soo much weight the past few years. I have worked full time and went to school full time (18-21 hours) for the last two years straight including summers. Im finally working towards the change. I just cut down at at work, to only 3 days, but my "classes" are M-F 7-3. I am student teaching, but the end is near!
Good luck with your classes!0 -

Wow. That is amazing. I'm not being humble when I say - there's no way I could do what you're doing. Good for you! I just hope you're able to take care of yourself while doing all that. For myself, I don't think I'd be able to. But that's just me. Good luck with it all. You've gotten this far - you must be so proud of yourself! : )0 -
Congrats! I can relate too. Baby at home, who I feel like I never get to see because I'm either working, or at school, or studying, or working out., etc.
I keep telling myself that she is the reason I'm doing all of this.
Keep up the good work.0 -

I completely understand where you're coming from. It can seem selfish to some to make exercise a priority over time spent with kids, but the truth is teaching children by example to make fitness a priority is such a tremendous gift because to live in a fat body is painfully burdensome.
Good for you! And before you know it that baby of yours will be able to work out with you. That would have been a real gift to me if I'd been able to do that with my dad growing up.0 -
Hi all you student moms! I used to be in your ranks, but graduated five years ago. During that time, I was raising a daughter as a single mom (with some help from my mom) working 30 hrs-week, and carrying a full course load in physics. I didn't manage weight loss in that time, so my hats off to those who are working on it! I did just want to encourage you all that it CAN be done, that the result is worth it, and that given a little creativity, it's even possible to carve out small but meaningful bits of me-time. Keep up the good work!0
