Hello everyone, I just joined! I need some ideas for some low impact exercises that will still give me good results!! I have had 2 back surgeries and currently have a bulging disk, spinal stenosis, slight scoliosis and degenrative disc disease. Due to my 2 surgeries I have some nerve damage in my right leg and foot that causes constant chronic neuropathic pain and part of my foot to be numb and part to be hypersensitive.

My point is with these issues I have a hard time finding exercises I can actually do. Because of the neuropathic pain, I am only able to walk for a max of 20-30 min and at a slower pace. I need suggestions of exercises that would be low impact on my back and leg.

swimming would be best, but it's very inconvenient.
jumping jacks would get your heart rate up...
boxing only uses your arms but if you put on the gloves, the weight alone would get your rate up w/o hitting a bag
  • You could use resistance bands they would give you a good upper and lower without any impact. Swimming is a good one, you could do some normally higher impact stuff in the water but still have low impact because of the water. Maybe do some research and see if you can find some things.
    Good luck!

if you have access to a pool but dont like swimming maybe just try water running. ive heard that is great for people with bad backs.

there are also those sitting machines like the sit bike etc.

I love riding my stationary bike I have bad knees I finally start riding it last month and I am dropping tons of inches off my thighs and butt and gut. You could ride go to a sports store and test different styles to see if your comfortable riding one.
