I love electronic music, and I find that it helps my workouts too! I have a bunch of weekly podcasts that I download and listen to them while at the gym or just around the house when I clean. This type of music always puts me in a good mood. :)

Me!! I always listen to it while working out, just makes my whole body work harder!!
  • I never thought I'd see a thread like this on here. lol I'm a HUGE techno & trance addict. I've been to a ton of shows to see a ton of big DJs. I have Armin van Buuren's record label logo tattoo'd on my back. And my boyfriend of 3 years is a local trance DJ, also. lol

Trance is a higher beats per minute than most other EDM genres, so it will make your work harder in your workouts at a faster pace. It's amazing for workouts!

that's pretty much the only music i can listen to when i am running! i use my pandora station :)
  • OMG YES. It's actually listed under things that inspire me to get in shape haha. LOVE IT WITH ALL MY <3
  • oh and if anyone is interested in trying it out but not knowing where to start, I can recommend some people to search for.

    Pandora uses mostly outdated tracks.
  • Which podcasts? I love it too, but haven't been able to find anything good lately.
  • I highly recommend you look for Sander van Doorn if you are looking up podcasts. This guy can keep it cranking!

I believe his podcast shows are called "Identity" but if you search for Sander van Doorn, you should be able to find it easily

Kraftwerk <3 The track "Trans Europe Express" is so divine. The first time I ever ran for ten minutes straight was because I got so into listening to that one. When it was over I was like, hold on, that song is 10:43. I just ran through the whole thing!?

I usually rock the Goa-Psy Trance channel on di.fm while working out. And occasional change it up with some good ole heavy metal. I know, weird combo. I don't think I could do this without the tunes.

Who are some of your favorite artists?

By far my most favorite is Above & Beyond (<3 TATW), Armin van Buuren, Oceanlab, Pendulum, anything remixed by Gabriel & Dresden, BT, Chicane.... the list goes on and on.

Listening to TATW every week for the past 2 years has definitely opened me up to new artists and increased my love for the genre.

Yes to all of these!!! Also I would add to the list Matt Darey (his podcast is called Nocturnal or Nocturnal Sunshine), and Sonnydeejay (The Vocal Trance Sessions)
  • Speaking of Gabriel & Dresden, I'm going to see their reunion show in Austin next month! I'm so excited! Can't wait!

Oh yeah, if you workout with your iPhone, get the DI radio app. DI.com is an electronic music radio site and they've moved on to mobile apps. There is a channel for every genre of EDM you can possibly think of. The trance station is always up to date on the latest tracks.

Unfortunately I only have the regular iPod touch which would require wifi to stream radio. I will stick with my podcasts for now!

Oh and.... I'M SO JEALOUS OF YOU!! I've never been to a trance show :( Actually that's a lie, I went to see A&B at a local club but I had a little too much to drink so I don't really remember anything. I am still really angry at myself for that one....

You should really see A&B again! I've seen them 3 times! And you gotta see Armin play. Freaking amazing shows.
  • That's what i did when I went to see Wippenberg in Austin last summer. I was so drunk, that when he started playing one of my favorite songs, I climbed the front of the DJ booth and screamed at the top of my lungs. I was THAT drunk girl. lol

But I was so upset the next few days because I didn't remember much of the show, and all I remember was that it was SO AMAZING.

So guess what I did? My boyfriend and I brought Wippenberg back to play in Dallas, for his birthday party. So I got to see him again, and this time I laid off the alcohol. lol

Tiesto Majikal Journey is a great CD. Rob Dougan is old school but uses a lot of symphonic stuff too. Blank and Jones. I have a crazy amount of Trance on my hard drive.
Hmm maybe I should put it up on my Dropbox...

Pfft...old school. I am old enough to remember early raves. Techno anthems like James Brown is Dead, O Fortuna by Apotheosis, Rough Sex by Lords of Acid, etc.

Oh...and because I have been called out...here is a taste of my collection:

    20 sexy house grooves
    Electro House - The *kitten*
    Samurai
    Sick Flows
    Trance Harmony
    50 techno Trance Anthems
    Progressive House Tunes
DJ Kicks mixed by Kode 9
    Trance Tunes 2010
    Ultimate Danec
    Tribalism
    Vocal Trance Hits

My trance collection alone is 6GB...my ambient collection is 4GB

I like Tiesto, Benny Bennasi, more trancelike with like Juno Reactor and a couple others. Lately been liking the remixes with added bass tracks by Skrillex (Like Cinema with Bennasi and Promises with Nero). Used to be an online CD store called TranceTrax - I think they are gone now with ability to get everything online.
