Help Skippy, a dog who didn't get his due process!
Skippy is a sweet, four year old, golden retriever who was sentenced to death by the Town Board of Selectmen in Freetown, Massachusetts.
Accused of injuring the grandaughter of his owners, Skippy's breeder in Canada has volunteered to take him back. An employee at the shelter where he has been quarantined since December has also volunteered to adopt him because he is so good natured.
Don't punish Skippy for his owners' mistakes:
According to a Freetown Selectwoman "“There were serious safety considerations. There were owners who were either unable or unwilling to take the necessary steps to ensure the well being and safety of a young child,” Fox said. “Those steps included some behavioral training/socialization and neutering. Both had been suggested. For whatever reason, neither was accomplished. As a result, the child was subjected to unmonitored interaction that resulted in injury. The dog was not given the basic tools necessary to thrive peacefully in its environment.”
