And the pain is gone!!!

So I've had a herniated disc since I've been about 20 (curently 26). This causes me leg pain if I stand for to long at a time, and recently I've been having limited mobility in the same leg, to avoid excruciating pain. Sadly enough I would get the most pain when tying to sit on the toilet (something about that movement did not agree with me), and would wait as long as I could just to avoid the pain. You have no idea the relief I had when I suddenly realized I could move my legs in ways I hadn't in months, (and I could sit on the toilet pain free). What shocked me was that it took only 10 lbs of weight loss for the pain to get better. If I had known that, I would have started my weight loss months ago. I am ecstatic to see what happens with my future weight loss.

It's the little, everyday things that we don't even think about that make the most difference to our quality of life. Good for you!0

Fantastic!!
I just had emergency back surgery for herniated disc 2/3/11. I understand the excruciating pain, my nerve was completely compressed and surgery was the only option. I was unable walk, not having bowel movement and having urinary retention. I had to be on morphine every 4 hours. I was in bad shape!!
I also am hoping my continued weight loss and building my core will help to manage my back pain from my disc degeneration and numbness that I deal with also.
I had been sedentary for 3 weeks, literally in bed for 95% of the time. But now the past week I've been able to stay up for 3-4 hours without feeling bad afterwards. I actually start physical therapy today.
Many people don't realize that you can have herniated disc with no pain if it is not touching a nerve. With weight loss taking the pressure off the back it relieves the pressure on the nerve. Massage also helps relieve the muscles pressure on the nerve.0 -

I hope pain stays gone, but if ever have difficulty sitting to pee, pee standing using a cup!!! Also have a massage therapist work your psoas muscle specifically.0
