It's time to get to work

I have discovered this awesome site just a few days ago and decided this may be the catalyst that helps me lose weight. I am a very visual person and like to see results so the idea of keeping a food diary and be able to keep daily weigh ins was something I couldn't resist.

I'm only on Day 3 and I love it. I used to be very very skinny when I was in grade school but now that my once very active lifestyle has turned into sedentary lifestyle (I am in IT) I ballooned up. Now I am pushing 240 and want to first get below 200 and work from there.

I think I can easily change my eating habits but my issue before was I never had tools like what this site offers. Even on Day 3 I am counting calories and all that like crazy and trying to start an exercise regiment. Let's hope I can do this! My main inspiration for doing this is my two daughters. I don't want to be overweight anymore and run the risk of heart disease or anything like that. I want to see them grow up and I know if I don't make changes now it could be deadly for me.

Welcome to the site! My husband has a sit-at-the-computer-all-day job as well; I wish he would find motivation like you've found to get healthy! :)

Oh haha. My bad. I saw the title and I was like, oh yeah, I need to minimize and get back to work too. LOL! You'll be like that eventually!!

You definitely can change! It is amazing what logging does to help you see where you are, and you can look back and see how far you've come before long. Just don't lose sight of the big picture. If you have a bad day, just suck it up and keep going. It's the long haul that's going to keep you around to see your daughters grow up - not a flash-in-the-pan crash diet. Keep on truckin' and you'll get to your goal and feel great. At least, that's what I keep telling myself and I'm already feeling a lot better, even though I have more to lose and lots of habits to rein in! Welcome! (I'm a Java dev, so I know about the sedentary lifestyle we get ourselves into, and it's a challenge to make the effort to change and move it!)
