Do you ever feel guilty if you've eaten for example a chocolate bar, even if you're still in your calorie goal and aren't over in sugar/fat etc?

  • if it fits in your calorie goal, enjoy it!

Nope! I consider that a victory!
I'm not a cheater-- so I NEVER cheat; but I will often BUDGET for something special (mine's usually a glass of wine or two.)
  • I do! I ate pizza today for the first time in months. I had no choice, it was eat pizza or not eat anything for lunch. I felt awful even though I didn't go over calories. I think it takes some time to adjust and realize that it is OK to have a treat sometimes!

When i do that, i usually feel like i "did something wrong". I FEEL like i'm cheating even if it's fit into my daily.
  • omg yes!! i put such bad guilt trips on myself its horrible! I hate it, but i cant help it :frown: but i do feel better when I do say no to the food that will make me have that guilt trip.....Like for example I had pizza for dinner, and I knew if i had a second slice I would make myself feel so guilty to where i would cry..So i didnt grab for it and and I stayed in my carlorie range too

It's bugging me, I feel like I'm becoming too neurotic about everything and should just enjoy it! Oh well, I think as long as I don't indulge into temptation for the rest of the week I should feel ok :)

    NOT AT ALL!

If you go cold turkey you are more likely to binge later on. I have had cheat days and I still enjoy the food I've always had... even so I am down 27 pounds. Maybe I could have dropped more pounds over the past four months but if I just ate like a herbivore I know I would more likely binge.

Remember (and I think this applies to everyone here at MFP) that you didn't put the weight on overnight and it will not go away overnight... Don't be hard on yourself, REWARD yourself for being under your calorie count and take pleasure in knowing that you are doing so well that you can enjoy a treat.

Now I am going for my daily walk and I am going stop at 7-11 for a treat for myself :)

Yes, I love the feeling of resisting temptation! My friends had pizza AND ben and jerrys on saturday night and I stuck to my pasta. I think I just beat myself up too much sometimes, I mean I've done the 30 day shred twice today so I think I should be fine

Guilt has no place on this journey! That's my thought anyway. Even if I go over or gain a little, I try my best to move past it and look forward. Beating yourself up over anything is really just fruitless in the end.

i heard the best quote recently, and i'm paraphrasing, but it went something like "guilt is anger directed at ones' self"

and there's no need to be angry.

Yea no lie kids, I have chocolate almost everyday. And Pizza at least 1x a week, and usually Chipotle somewhere in there. Life is just too short to freak out everytime you eat something "bad".
