Work trips & eating out

So I'm in Fort Lauderdale (sp?) for work. My boss, a client, and I all went out to dinner at a non chain restaurant. My question is how do you all log your food when it's restaurant-level healthy (i.e. NOT!), but it's a single location, not a chain franchise, so the food itself isn't in the MFP database.

I basically went for the highest calorie & sodium count I can find and added that. Pushed me way way over on all my stats for today, but I figure it's better to shoot too high and be wrong than cheat and go for the lowest numbers just so my log won't say I went over for the day.

I usually just try to think of something similar at another chain restaurant, and use that as my calorie count.

It's tough when you have to eat out. Last week I knew I had to eat out with friends on Thursday. I checked the restaurant website the day before and input what I was going to eat first thing in the morning so I could plan the rest of my meals and make sure I didn't go over. I would do what you did, find a comparable and use that.
  • Got pressured into drinking and putting the 3 beers in on an honest guess put me way over. :-( Now I'll be playing catchup the rest of the week. Ugh.
