I've been working out consistently for a month, and counting calories as well, and I gained a little over 6 lbs!! What am I doing wrong?

You could not be working out hard enough. I see plenty of people who think working out is 20 minutes toodling around on an eliptical, and they wonder why they never lose weight.
You could also be gaining muscle. If you're clothing is fitting better, than the number on the scale isn't that important.
You could also be underestimating the calories you are eating. I have heard that people underestimate how much they are actually eating by up to twice the amount, so use measuring cups for a while to train your eyes to the amounts you should be eating.0 -
what kind of exercise are you doing and how long?
Are you eating your calories that you start the day with AND all your exercise calories?
Do you use a heart rate monitor - best thing ever happened to meit will tell you how many calories you burned because it is monitoring YOU not a guess-ta-mate
Are you drinking a bunch of water?
Can you open your diary so we can look?0 -
I'm with rc630, either you're gaining muscle, or you need to work out in a smarter way. Writing down what you eat helps you with the counting calories in case that's where you're messing up.
Have you considered your scale may be broken? I know it sounds silly, but that could also be an issue. If none of the above sound possible, then maybe you should talk this out with a doctor.
Best of luck.0 -
I'm doing the Insanity workouts, and I'm using the database here to get my calories eaten. I was following a 1330 calorie diet and would consistently come under by a few hundred, but then I did some research and think that wasn't enough calories. I have now modified it to 1700 calories. I have to admit I don't follow a super strict diet so maybe I'm eating the wrong kind of calories?
I will open my diary as soon as I figure out how!
Thank you all for your responses, I'm hoping you can shed some light on my issue!0
