1 more pound and I get to buy myself either a magazine or a book (my choice). It's a reward for attaining a mini goal.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to a good book or magazine? I'm interested in something motivational with regards to weight loss and life in general.

I read a cute motivational book called life lessons learned while shopping. Not much about weight loss but it was fun to read....and I love to shop anyways.

Some of my favorite books of all time are Janet Evonivich's Stephanie books. First in the series in "One for the Money"

Awesome reward choice. Happy reading whatever you choose.

I don't have any motivational books to suggest, but I really like Jennifer Crusie novels. Recently, I've gotten into Linda Lael MIller's McKettricks series...The McKettrick Legend, McKettricks of Texas, etc. They're fabulous and they fly by!

Eating For Life? It has recipes, and talks about proper portion sizes, and shows some peoples' transformations.

E-Book "Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle" by Tom Venuto. The most detailed nutrition book I have ever read. Geared toward losing bodyfat and increasing lean body mass. (only available as an e-book through the BFFM website)

If you want a less technical, cheaper version, he writes a book you can find on Amazon -
"The Body Fat Solution: Five Principles for Burning Fat, Building Lean Muscles, Ending Emotional Eating, and Maintaining Your Perfect Weight" by Tom Venuto
  • I really enjoyed 'When You Eat at the Refrigerator, Pull Up a Chair: 50 Ways to Feel Thin, Gorgeous, and Happy (When You Feel Anything But)' by Geneen Roth and 'The Four Day Win' by Martha Beck.

what an awesome reward, I'm an avid reader myself and never thought of rewarding myself with a new book. I don't have any motivational ones to suggest (I tried to read The Secret 3 times, guess it just wasn't the right time). But I have just finished Pillars of the Earth and World Without End by Ken Follett...they aren't books I would normally read, but turns out they were fantastic. I've just started the Three Musketeers yesterday. Easy reads would be the girl with the dragon tattoo, and the other two that follow that one (I can't remember the names). Amazon.ca is the best place to look for good motivational or weight loss books IMO. Good luck, and congrats on meeting your mini-goal!

I'm a magazine junkie! I love Self, Women's health, Fitness and Real Simple. They are all motivational!
