For those of you who have personal trainers or are personal trainers...would you mind sharing with me about how much it costs per session and how long your sessions are? I'm curious to know what the going rate is for this. Thanks!

I've had one and know some personal trainers. Mine was $60/session and each session was an hour long. From what I've heard, that rate is fairly standard.

my husband and I share an hour training session and the cost is $80.00 per session. Our trainer is a bit newer though so his rates are a bit lower.

We have been training twice a week but we are soon going to once per week. I think we are good to go on our own now for a while.
  • I got two free sessions with my new gym membership. If I want to continue with them, it is $45 per session.
  • I live in the DC area and I have a personal trainer. His rates are $70/session (60 minutes long). Then the rates drop to $65/session when I schedule two or more sessions in the week.

I think it all depends where you live and the reputation of the trainer. I live in the Northeast so in my area, the lower end trainers charge $70-$75 per hour. Whereas the higher end trainers charge upward of $250/session. Most have package deals that may reduce the cost to about $50-$55/hr. I trained with a trainer for a year 3 times a week for a year yes it helps and improve my running etc etc but if you are just looking for weight loss and just to be fit I think the same thing can be achieved using beachbody products. Sorry not trying to put anyone out of business.
  • My Trainer Charges

    $275 for 6 sessions
    $500 for 12 sessions

those are 1 hour long kick butt sessions. Worth every single penny!!!

She also does my meal plans, texts me for support when I have any questions, is someone I can trust and supplies me with amazing support.

She does exercise plans for people via the internet as well, fitnessbygrace.net. she is a life changing person!
  • You may want to check and see if there is a Crossfit near you.
They have a website you can check out that does include workout plans on the site.

I had one when I lived in NC. It was about $45 a session and the sessioins were about 30 minutes long. I do not regret having a trainer, they got me back in the swing of things and taught me some new workouts.

I have been with my trainer (trainer for 18 years) for a year. I pay $20 per one hour session. I live in Oregon. I guess I'm lucky - she usually works out with me to get hers in, has become a friend and it's not uncommon for us to work for closer to 70-75 minutes together.
  • $25/ per 30 min session. (Planet Fitness)

But mines great, if hes bored, he will train me for free when im in the gym : )
  • I joined Bally's last month and got 2 free training sessions when I signed up, and they had a package deal of $250 for 6 one hour sessions (or the option to break it into 12 30 min. sessions). I'm doing the 6 one hour sessions and it's been worth it for me. I was scared of looking stupid not knowing how to use the equipment at the gym, plus I got a lot of new ideas for home routines and pool exercises.

I pay $80 a session (purchased 10 sessions), however, that includes the use of a private gym. It's fantastic to have an entire gym with only 1-2 other people in it. I really hate going to crowded gyms, but I am aware that at $80/session it's unsustainable for long.

I believe it's around $20 per hour in Fitness First, but that's in Malaysia ;) We don't consider that cheap here either. The PTs are professionals and they work really hard. They must be making the bulk of FF's income, even when the membership rates aren't cheap either. Then again, is it worth the cost? Of course!

I'm in Toronto (Canada) and I pay about $85/hour (plus tax, lol 13%). That's about standard, rates can vary a bit, but mostly $80-100+/hour. This is on top of my gym membership of $500-$600/year. It's incredibly expensive (I'm a university student!), but I think it does help in the long run!

my personal trainer is $50 for 30 min, and $90/hour. i think it's reasonable, esp. considering my gym dues are $90/month. at my gym there are 3 diff pricing levels for trainers, and because mine is a metabolic specialist as well, he has the highest rate. but the cost is completely worth it if you find a trainer who is very motivating and knowledgeable!
